Keeping faith in Fallout 3

Why would they release modding tools when their main focus is on the xbox 360 crowd instead of the PC?

I don't know of anyone who mods console games, and Bethesda probably can't imagine that someone would want "their game that they made for themselves" to be any different.

It'll be a cold day in hell before they give anyone the opportunity to outshine them by making a Fallout 3 that actually seems more like Fallout, with their own tools.

Xbox (and then 360) were the main crowds for Morrowind (although to a slightly lesser extent) and Oblivion. Both of which had tools released. The Oblivion had to be downloaded, so I could see them doing that.

However, while I think they'll probably release tools for Fallout 3, I could also see them not doing it. Part of the reason to release modding tools for TES games is so they can go on big rants about freedom in the game (Which frankly, is really only there thanks to the tools and whats been made with them) and they seem to be going in another direction with fallout 3 (smaller geographical area for instance- one of the reasons the tools worked in TES is because of the huge stretches of empty land, which don't seem to be as present inh Fallout 3).

Logan- I have to disagree. Oblivion's modding community is full of new clothes, other superficial things and fixes for the mess Bethesda made as opposed to real quality substance. Also, Morrowind only started kicking because of the modding community (Many of the best of which never jumped to Oblivion).

Ofcourse, if they don't it'll be a complete disaster. Morrowind, without mods, is simply a collection of boring, repetitive fetch quests while Oblivion is a poorly balanced unplayable piece of crap.

Anyone reading the comments over there?

Well I’ve watched someone play it for about 2 hours and David has played it himself for about 4 hours I think, and as fans of the original games we are both confident it is exactly what a Fallout game should be. Have a little faith…

Seems in his book, faith=wishful thinking in la-la land.

Edit: oh and hello from lurker-land. Going back now...
