Something like this would work, cold war origin and still effective.

Also, New Vegas has a stupid world war 2 plane, which is totally out of place, when they could've used a C5 or Globemaster.
Yep the setting is actually shit but people love it because of 1950's shit oddly enough.

They could have used one of these, were it not for Bethesda screwing up the world setting.

Yeah, Interplay did not screw the world setting up with Tactics it was all Bethesda.

Interplay didn't make Tactics.

14°East made it, and IIRC I think Chriss Taylor was their contact at Interplay for game-world appropriateness. So... who knows. The setting problem is that Bethesda has some silly divergence concept that dictates certain tech never happened, and it's all stuck in the 50's. Where as it should be that certain tech is their preference, and just about any tech could happen in their anticipated future.

See they didn't assume that the world would be using propeller planes in 120 years time; they assumed the Jetsons.

Ok pedant. They had it made goofball.

Point is they never cared about the lore or the franchise they wanted to make money because that is the whole idea.

Every modern assault rifle is just an upgraded version of the STG44.

Every bolt action rifle today is essentially an infinitely upgraded version of the dreyse needle rifle from the 1840s.

The action may be different, the mechanics, even the type of ammo but the concept and idea hasn't changed.

Nations used flintlock muskets for like...300 years? until percussion caps briefly.

TLDR; guns don't change that much.

The World War 2 plane is in there because there really is a B-52 that crashed at the bottom of Lake Mead. Really the biggest problem with that is that, to be preserved for 200 years, it would need to be buried in silt and mud rather than just being out in the open.

The .223 pistol, 14mm pistol, n99 10mm and 10mm smg, the ak-112, minigun, flamer, combat shotgun are all very futuristic even if you dropped them in today and look early-mid fallout' 21st century. Save the Ak's weird boxy as hell wooden furniture.

The rangemaster might be a semi automatic one so that too might be up there, along with the rocket launcher.

Honestly NV sort of screws it up with shoving '60s' and western guns into it that are almost 1:1 their og counterparts. Should had had sort of a more...aggressive redesign of some.
