Left 4 Dead

the L4D community is split, a lot love it, a lot hate it, either way I'm still getting it.

Call me a hypocrite ( read my earlier messages in this thread ) but I love L4D2.

I love it so much that I can't even see myself playing L4D1 again. That's how much I love the new Versus and the new special infected.
It feels like an entirely new game.

Oh and level design is absolutely great.

I love how they put a Depeche mode shirt on the black chick to open her up to another demographic. Its like what can I, Von Drunky, possible have in common with a black woman, oh okay she likes mopey rock, I can relate!

It's because of the new characters (everyone was so attached to the old ones). Though no big loss, it's not like Francis is dead at least (he's indestructible) and Louis still has his peelz.

It's not because of the new characters. It's because a lot of people bought it because of promises that were made, but never kept.

That sort of thing coming from a developer that used to keep VERY close ties with the community leaves loyal fans with a bad taste in their mouths.

The signs were already there that Valve was moving into EA/Activision territory console-ified shit when L4D went gold. Horrible P2P matchmaking, poor community support, no server browser, ping bars instead of an actual ping, while being filled to the brim with bugs and exploits (which make playing a good round in Versus nearly impossible when combined with rampant rage-quitting).

Pretty much all of the shit MW2's PC version is being skewered over, although shit tastes better when it's coming from your favorite developer, I suppose.

It's true but regardless of what L4D could have been, L4D2 is, imo at least, a way better gaming experience.

The game is way harder, level design is top notch, Versus is near perfect ( new infected + new score system ), realism renews my interest for coop...

As far as I'm concerned, L4D2 is really worth the price ( lol at me for originally planning to boycott it til a price drop... ).

Yeah, I don't regret buying L4D2 because it's so much better than L4D1.
But I regret buying L4D1 now.
