Left 4 Dead

What?

360...not Dreamcast.

What?

I'm not talking about its ability to handle many zombies on screen, I'm talking about the gameplay. You have to move that gun around like crazy as there are dozens of zombies coming from all directions.

I enjoy an occasional FPS on consoles but how would you play something like this on it? The aim doesn't usually move fast enough and if it did then it would make it pretty difficult to aim, no?

It is easy to aim. Never had a problem with aiming. I've mowed down hordes coming from all directions. Hell I've jumped over a fence did a 180 got a headshot on a hunter mid pounce then 180 for the finish in Versus....that guy was pissed.

The only thing that gives me problmes are stupid team mates.

I play Halo 3 MP all the time on the 360 and I can't imagine playing the L4D that way. I can't get a silver medal in Survival where I need to move the mouse around like crazy and go for headshots, how is it possible on 360. There must be some difference or maybe autoaim is very well done. I need to give it a try just to see.

Me, Mialkir and my bro managed to get silver on No Mercy rooftop.

That is, before we decided to randomly jump off the rooftop and shoot the hanging Louis in the face.

Well thats Halo 3. last time I played it, I watched as Stephan Hawkins ran by flipping me off the entire way. Halo is just a very slow game.

Is there a aim assist? Maybe? Dunno.....If there is it ain't as blatant as Shadowrun's.

I got Gold on Death Toll on the finale; just set up outside the house by the ammo with your backs to the water.

I have rarely played FPS games on console (I don't even own a console) but when I tried this out, it really was the bottom of it all!!! Sure me and my friends playing it was very drunk that night, but what the hell... FPS games on console is not good.

Okay for Goldeneye 64, I really admire that game (also Perfect Dark and the Goldeneye sequel haha sorry, Im really tired and canä't remember the name of it... Argh!), but any other FPS games has mostly sucked. And Left 4 Dead took the price!!! Congrationaltions.

I think it would be awesome on the PC however!

I understand this point of view but I think there is something to like about the FPS on consoles. Personally, I do like holding the 360 controller and actually squeezing the trigger to shoot so console FPS are not too bad. In fact, some games (Fallout 3) actually feel better on consoles.

I just can't imagine playing a console FPS without aim-assist and that's not always handled very well. For every Halo, there are 5 games that are unplayable in multiplayer and aren't that great in SP either. I imagined L4D being one of those games because of how fast paced the action is. There are situations where you have to turn around and shoot in half a second, how is that doable with a thumb, without a very intrusive aim-assist? Maybe I'm wrong but I think L4D is one of those games that just has to be played with a mouse, unless it's toned down a bit.

Sorry about double posting but I want to gravedig this thread onto the first page.

I just found some awesome news. Valve is releasing a brand new campaign for the original Left 4 Dead, completely FREE for PC owners!

Crash Course “bridges the gap” between the rooftops of No Mercy and the abandoned highway of Death Toll and includes “new locations, new dialogue from the original cast, and an explosive finale.” The campaign will of course have a co-op campaign, survival maps and a new “streamlined” Versus mode that will last about 30 minutes.

Link

Now that's what I call freaking support!

Bwahahaha! How I love console users getting ripped. Call it poetic justice for forcing parts/options to be removed from games (By Sony or MS) as the consoles can't do it...

Disclaimer: I do not hate console users other than console kiddie crowd (which i detest as much as Pc- kiddies) but as a Pc user I am pissed at pc games being console ports. and "Bad" ports.

Support my ass, they waited about a whole year to toss in some "DLC", the simple little Survival mode and to fix the two VS maps that were left out, then they just come out and say "Oh yeah, and don't forget to buy our full-price sequel coming out real soon" and just now they're finally deciding to add some content, I wouldn't say that's very good support.

Well i enjoy L4D on highest dificulty its really fun...and you dont need lot of time to play it thats big plus...

About DLC well its free so whats the fucking problem?

I didn't know they were supposed to release anything else for the game. I payed $40 for it on steam and thought I got a good deal. I mean, I got more playtime out of it than most games and now there is a whole new free campaign? I say awesome.

Exactly...i know its dumb shooter but gives lots of fun im replaying same map fev times...while other fpp games i got hard time to finish not becouse they hard but boring...

Well what gets on my nerves is that when they first released L4D they promised alot of support for the game. That's what made me get it, looking at the game I didn't wanna pay $40-$50 just for how simple it was, but hearing that Valve would give it continuing support helped me take the last step and go out and buy it.

So after waiting around a whole year, we get 1 little map, a very simple mode, and a fix for two maps that were left out of VS, while at the same time hearing they're gonna release a full-price sequel in such a generally short amount of time.

That just annoys me, where went all that continuing support and everything? If you bought the first L4D the second should be like half-price since for the largest part they're just charging you a second time for nearly the same game.

Still its not a bad game example Crysis was on my harddrive for 2 hours except physics it was boring like hell...im glad i dident buy the thing gameplay sucks except i could play timberman for 2 hours yep it was fun :)

What can i say about L4D in general one of best FPP its not boring, hard and fun with friends...

Any way im glad im not only one who see that Value is not so customer support after all...remember its all about money nothing more...

Let me get this straight rainbow butt....

Left4Dead was released, huge success, everyone loved it!

And your bitching because they are releasing a sequel?

Also. Left4Dead isn't dead, and the new one is going to be a bit different from the original.

I think most people who are pissed about L4D2, are so because of:

Valve details post Left 4 Dead launch plans
By Wesley Yin-Poole - 10/09/2008 - 2:39pm GMT

Intends to release new maps, characters, weapons and achievements to keep the community growing.

Valve intends to support hotly anticipated zombie survival shooter Left 4 Dead post-release with new characters, new maps, new achievements and new weapons in order to grow the community, Gabe Newell has revealed.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com at Leipzig Games Convention, the Valve co-founder and managing director said the developer intended to follow a similar downloadable content policy as it has with Team Fortress 2.

Left 4 Dead, set for release on PC and Xbox 360 on November 21 in Europe, is primarily a four-player cooperative game that sees a group of Survivors battle through four 'Movies' and against 28 Days Later-style zombies called The Infected.

Newell said that Valve's support of the game post-launch will be essential for growing the community.

He said: "One of the things that we're doing is we seem to be in a transition between games as a package product and games more of a service. So if you look at Team Fortress 2, one of things that's really helped grow the community is the continuous updates, where we release new maps, new character classes, new unlockables, new weapons. And we tell the stories about the characters, like the meet the sniper, or meet the sandwich. And that ongoing delivery of content really seems to grow the community.

"So each time we've released one of those for Team Fortress 2 we've seen about a 20% increase in the number of people who are playing online. And that number is really important because it determines how many community created maps there are, how many servers are running, and so on. So we'll do the same thing with Left 4 Dead where we'll have the initial release and then we'll release more movies, more characters, more weapons, unlockables, achievements, because that's the way you continue to grow a community over time."

---------------
Another concern seems to be, that the sequel will split the community.

They do continue with TF2 updates even now but there hasn't been anything major in a long while, apart from those movies, of course. They added a new map what a year ago?

So, they will probably continue to tweak and update L4D in the same manner, even after L4D2 comes out. There won't be a constant stream of goodies but there will be updates, and once in awhile, something will be added.

I'm not defending them, I'm just saying what's probably going to happen.

I doubt it after L4D2 will be released every one will forget about L4D...

Still i hope they will not mess up L4D2...
