Hello all,

This is a bit late, no one else seems to mention it and I only discovered it just now but actor Leslie Nielsen passed away two days ago.

He was of course known for such movies "Airplane" and "The Naked Gun", but also the Sci-Fi classic "Forbidden Planet".

He played also in some stinkers of movies but still I liked a lot of his work and am sad he is now gone too.

This is truly sad. I always hate it when a great, acomplished actor dies. I loathe todays movies and most young actors.

R.I.P.

"I just want to tell you both good luck. We're all counting on you."

well, now would be a good reason to die as you can be sure to have good entertaiment up there.

I barely watch any new movies anymore as most of them stink and a lot of the actors in them are questionable in that profession.

I think there are a lot of good movies out there, the problem being that you won't find this type of humor in mainstream comedy. Plays on words like "Don't call me shirley" just don't mean as much to modern audiences, in my opinion.

I just compared Airplane and The Hangover in my head and wanted to cry.

It seems like a lot of modern comedies thrive off of embarrassing things happening to the main characters, the "doh!" moment. Airplane! was about word play, cultural references, etc.

He could even turn a commercial into something funny.

One of my favorite Nielsen scenes:

I always loved this scene, such great timing.

I heard about it yesterday, sad thing but i guess it's gotta happen sometime...

Yeah, but why always with the good actors D: !

I mean, could we not find some way to reduce the lifetime of bad actors and somehow send them to the good one ? Like Vin Diesel to Schwarzenegger for example.

I think it's pretty sad that a man dies masturbating and everybody talks about it, another dies peacefully and nobody really cares. I didn't know until I was idly flipping through radio stations this morning and heard it on a local talk radio show.

I'm not sure where you live, but it is getting major press coverage in the US, the largest main stream media orgs had it on the front page for days
