Let's make a list of all Post Apocalyptic games for members and visitors

I think it is best for now that we stick to just games that have already been released.

If Crysis 3 was added than Half Life 2 should probably also be added as it deals with a similar theme of a post apocalypse world caused by an alien invasion. (human civilization did not get so much destroyed but rather got co-opted by the Combine)

What about Dark Souls?

- In 1, everything is pretty much mad and out to kill you. There is no trace of any civilization. Globally, the world is dying. The DLC has you go to a place tainted by the touch of the Abyss, with a messed up environment.

- In 2, you willingly go to the kingdom of Drangelic in order to find a way to get rid of the curse of the undead, as did many others. The once proud kingdom is now in ruin, most of its soldiers Hollow, and the King is no where to be found. The DLCs for this one have you go to distant realms in search of items rumored to aid you in your task. Like the original game, the realms are also way past their prime.

- In 3, your task is sort of overall similar to 1, but with some differences. The setting has changed; It mostly takes place in the Kingdom of Lothric, although some parts of DS 1 do make a return. This one has more neutral NPCs than DS 1, but the world is still overall hostile. The two DLCs take place in mostly dead areas as well.

There's also the distant Lovecraftian cousin; Bloodborne, but I don't know much about it. It's a PS4 exclusive, sadly. It does take place in a hostile world as well, with the citizens of the city contracting some sort of blood disease. (taken from the game's description) Bloodborne is not in a medieval world, however. It's more.. Victorian, I think.

I will put them under Fantasy Apocalypse, they probably fit that category.

You should edit the entry a bit because @Mohamed2001's post, although informative, is a bit spoilery too.
That being said, you could add Demon's Souls there too, since it too is a fantasy apocalypse. Generally, all Souls games (not sure about Bloodbourne, but I think that one too) have fantasy apocalypse as a major theme.

Edit: Command and Conquer Tiberium universe is post-apocalyptic. A lot.
From the second game onwards the world is basically ravaged by an alien substance and turned into a huge radioactive, toxic, uninhabitable wasteland, with pockets of civilization struggling here and there and even smaller pockets of humanity living in luxury.
And several wars have been fought over the said substance, on one side being global government basically, and on the other a religious, terrorist cult led by a mysterious, messianic figure.
It's only the first game, Tiberian Dawn (1995) that doesn't fall into this category, but is marking the beginning of the apocalyptic events.

If you look past the whole B-movie thing that's going on in the cutscenes, these games are very bleak and post-apocalyptic to their core. Rare PA RTS example.

I should probably note, however, that 4th game isn't worth a second of your time.

Fixed, I think. What do you think?

Would NieR Automata also fit here? It's a hack and slash JRPG, though.

From what I have played on Bloodborne, I don't think it fits under Fantasy Apocalypse.

The main city, Yharnam, is the only place that has fallen to ruin due to the blood sickness and the Beast Plague while the rest of the world is left unknown aside from hints of places outside Yharnam.

Also since the Yharnam in game is heavily implied to be a dream realm rather than reality, ala dream realms like The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, not much is known about the state of actual Yharnam.

Here's a few more for the list:

ATOM RPG A Russian 3D Turn-Based RPG, still in EA Phase but looks promissing <thread>
Burntime Whops, was already mentioned. Quite fun for MP in the days, Abandonware
Desert Law A PA RTS, guiding a Band of Mercs through the Wastes, think Mad Max meets Blitzkrieg
Krai Mira Russian Style Turn-Based RPG Part Deux, this time in a post-apocalyptic Crimea
Mega Lo Mania We've Nuked Em! Fight for Survival and Pops, Nuke Em AGAIN after the next Apocalypse
Shadow Vault Combat focussed Turn-Based Post-Apocalyse from Strategy First
The Fall - Last Days of Gaia A combat focussed 3D RPG bit like a Jagged Alliance meets Wasteland
Transartica aka Arctiv Baron Ride Bullet Trains through a PA Siberia, including Trainfights, Abandonware

HM: Archimedean Dynasty and the rest of the Aqua Series, but only the world building background

Hello Mohamed2001, that you for the update on your entries. I have replaced the old ones with the new one you have written.

I put a nice effort into making my post here in the past and it was totally ignored :aiee:.

Sorry for ignoring it. Could you please add some more information about these entries do so people get to know what they are about?

Thanks.

So, do you think NieR Automata would fit here?

Basically, you're introduced to a world filled with hostile robots (called "Machine Lifeforms") who aim to fully control Earth. Actually, I think the game's description describes it best without spoiling anything:

NieR: Automata tells the story of androids 2B, 9S and A2 and their battle to reclaim the machine-driven dystopia overrun by powerful machines.

Humanity has been driven from the Earth by mechanical beings from another world. In a final effort to take back the planet, the human resistance sends a force of android soldiers to destroy the invaders. Now, a war between machines and androids rages on... A war that could soon unveil a long-forgotten truth of the world.

Most of the world info is told after the first quest in a cutscene. It's quite nice imo, but the optimization is meh. Personally, I didn't have any crashes or so, but many others are reporting crashes. Also, keyboard/mouse support is retarded.
