Lo and behold! The age of mechs has begun!

^ I vouch for the turning radius on tanks. Most modern ones can turn on a dime. I believe we will have hyper-sonic missiles that are launched from space before we have fully functional combat mechs.

The original MK Tank and Renault FT tanks could turn on a dime as well, well a five pence piece or franc respectively. :V

Maybe in the future battles will be fought on a coolness factor, then mechs will rain supreme.

Why are you focused on legs as a means of movement?

Do i smell a leg fetish? :)
Not really, but aren't legs the distinctive feature of a mech? I mean, put tracks or wheels on it and you got a normal tank... A tank with a very shitty profile if you insist on a humanoid „torso“ with arms and stuff.
There might be smaller exoskeletons for urban combat. Powered armor that allows single soldiers to deliver heavy firepower with a much higher mobility than a tank.

not to mention that modern MBTs have an outstanding mobility when you consider their weight and weaponry. You probably will not achieve that with "legs" yet. Getting something between 60 or even up to 80 km/h per hour with 70 tons? And all that with a vehicle which is not much higher compared to a usual car.

everyone believing that a mecha would be "viable" in military environment needs a reality check and to get away from the anime/sci-fi stuff. Not that it doesn't look "cool" though. But the battlefield requires something that is efficient.

The Nemesis from unreal 3. A mech in my eyes.

Moving parts is what makes a mech imo.

A tank that transforms in to a gun tower. I know we are far from it but im certain when the technology becomes viable someone will see the benefits of this weapon system.
