Looking for a game...

Oh it works now, but I remember trying to install it once on XP and it crashing ever time I tried to run it. I think it may have been a video driver problem.

In response to the original question:

This may be a sign of my desperation but I'm actually enjoying Spellforce--it's kinda like Warcraft III with a hero that can do Fedex quests. If you like RTS it's worth a look.

Just ignore the horrible voice acting and average 3-D graphics and it's tolerable....or I maybe AM that desperate for a game to be playable.

Blitzkrieg
C&C Red Alert (the first one)
Battlefield 1942 (Forgotten Hope, Desert Combat, and the Pirates mods)
Heores of WW2
Hearts of Iron II
Half Life 2

Yeah.

That review is a wee bit old though, and from what I've heard its done nothing but improve. Though from the implications of that review... I guess it couldn't get worse :).

That review describes the OLD Anarchy Online. Right now, the game is highly enjoyable and stable.

Ya, but then there is a monthly fee and you have to give away alot of money. Or is Anarchy for free?

Presumably they will cancel their free offer.

Right now, Calculon, Funcom is allowing people to create accounts, download Anarchy Online, and play; all free. The catch is that it is only the basic Anarchy Online, not the advance features that come with the expansion packs (where you have to pay a monthly fee if you buy).

Though I have a feeling that if it works out well, it might continue indefinitely. If they rope players in with the free basic package, but then charge for the extra content when they buy the expansions. In the competitive MMORPG field, especially with an older game like Anarchy Online, it could prove to be a good strategy.

One of my top ten most favorite rpg's of all time is both free and fan-made!

http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~dink/index.shtml

Its an rpg from 1997 with simple graphics and music (even for its time) yet when you play it you can definitely tell it was made bu a group of teenagers who love rgp's and such things like it.

Although the Mod's for it are even better than the original game...the community is huge since the game comes with an editor that can do more or less anything.

Dink!,
The Vault Dweller

Ok, I decided to give Anarchy Online a chance, so I downloaded it and installed it. Yep, disconnected within the first 10 minutes. Glad I got that out of the way.

Hey ratty are u on RK1 or 2?
I don't even know what you are talking about. I assume it has something to do with Anarchy Online, so I should probably inform you that I merely downloaded the game. I won't be installing it for another 10 days at least.
