Looking for Fallout?

There's still a lot of interest in the Fallout titles these days, and we sometimes hear complaints from people that they can't seem to find them. If you're one of those persons that hasn't played Fallout but is looking for it, Gogamer is having a 48-hour sale (40 hours left at the time of this posting) selling the Fallout Radioactive pack (Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics) for 14.90 USD. Not an incredibly low price, and you might be able to find it cheaper if you search hard, but it's a good opportunity to pick it up if you've been looking for it for a while.

Spotted on GameBanshee.

I'd like to point out that if you play through each of the three games with just one character (which would leave you missing out on alot) it would easily take over 60 hours of gameplay to get through all three Fallout titles. If you were to buy a new game for $40 that just came out you'd be lucky if you got more than 40 hours of gameplay out of it.

Of course most people will make at least three characters in each Fallout title so that's easily over 100 hours of gameplay.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

In Poland, you can buy the Fallout Saga pack (also FO1, FO2 and Tactics) for 19,99 PLN (around 7.5 USD). Also available in the series are Baldur's Gate Saga and Icewind Dale Saga.

If someone is interested in buying the Fallout Radioactive pack (Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics) in Austria, I suggest visiting Libro first, since I saw it there a few months ago. The price was 10-15 EUR.

In germany you can also regulary buy fallout 2 from amazon. *klick* *klick*

And on ebay the price is far less expensively.

http://www.play.com/ sells the pack for 12.49 euros, including delivery throughout Europe.

still buy it for friends when i've got no fucking clue what to give them as a gift for a birthday or whatever.

Play is always the first place to check if you need media in Europe. But obviously not useful for Americans.

I posted this specifically for the yanks. I know the Europeans, especially not those in countries that have recent reissues of the game (Poland, Russia) have no trouble getting it.

As a yank myself, I picked this up last time you guys posted about it being on sale. That was before I even had a DVD ROM drive, but the purchase was part of my planning for the future (plus the extras included on the disk were a big draw for me, since my other copy is the old two-pack that came with pretty much no extras). This is a great buy for anyone in the U.S. who wants another copy for back up, or wants to upgrade to a DVD ROM from the old CD ROMs. Just be aware that you'll need to download patches to add the kiddies back in to the games (available right here on NMA! Thanks guys!) , as this version is the "no kids" Euro version.

Anyway, I hope some of my countrymen jump on this sale, it's a great buy and I'm damn glad I got one last time 'round.

Thanks BN!

Question, since BiS is no more, who will get parts of the money that we pay for the games if we buy them now? Anyone know? Is there a publishing company that holds the rights to f1-2 and tactics?

It's actually a few dollars cheaper than the BIN prices on eBay (if you're not looking for something different or used). Mostly due to over-inflated shipping on eBay.

I'll probably get one because having Fallout Tactics on DVD would be much preferable to the buggier CD version.

It's a good pack. I hadn't played Fallout 1 or 2 in a while because for some reason every time I tried to get them to run on xp. it would cut off like an inch of the game screen and I couldn't fix it. Plus my old cd's were in a bit of ill repair. Odd thing as well, whenever I'd try to reinstall F2, the install would take forever and some files would be buggy (could be bad discs). But I grabbed this sucker at Fry's and the install was damned near instantaneous and the weird screen bug was gone. Weird huh.

is this worth it just for tactics? I've got 1 and 2 but have never played tactics.
I'm going to tell you if tactics' worth it, as soon as the disc I just order from play.com gets here :P For this price it's good to have a backup of Fallout 1 and 2 anyway. Who knows how long till those old CDROMs disintegrate  Am I the only one who thinks having this much Fallout on one disc is incredible? :o

edit: Oh and thank you SuAside for the tip with play.com. Although buying there regularly, I would've totally missed this one :D Still looking for a cheap american version though :|

Fallout Tactics is a pretty decent game IMO, but it doesn't stick to Fallout canon. The gameplay is pretty good though if you're not looking for an RPG and like the SPECIAL mechanics.

Plus it is pretty long and has some replay value if you want to do the harder difficulties (I challenged myself and completed the game on the hardest difficulty and tough guy mode).

Too bad the multiplayer was ruined by all the 10k crap.

Wow, I payed $20 plus tax on 1 and 2 separately. I still consider it totally worth the money, since I've played through each more than a few times, and I've spent a lot of time in combat.

Didn't much like tactics. I ended up stuck, I think in a combat area, and that was pretty much the deal breaker. Didn't help to that I was burned out on strategy games anyway, though.
