Lovecraftian Comic, Not for the Faint of Heart

Tannhauser

Venerable Relic of the Wastes
Orderite
While I was away, I stumbled upon this work. Unfortunately, I had I had forgotten about it until just several minutes ago. I thought I might share, hopefully it will be worth the time spent. From what I can gather, this is the first short story of the recently published Cthulu Tales #1.

Wow Tannhauser...

Not only is the art grandiose, but it perfectly captures the idea of Lovecraft. The writhing monstrosities that defy description...I really liked how that one panel had him touching the whale making me think "oh how sad...a whale washed up on the beach" then the next panel shows all sorts of other animals throwing themselves out of the ocean in droves. They truly look insane and desperate.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

*EDIT*

I just remembered to find this;

I believe that is all there is for that particular story. As I said, it is part of this comic, which has five other short stories. However, I have only the scans of this one, so I don't know the quality of the entire collection. Each story has a different writer, and I believe a different artist, so it is possible that this is simply an outstanding exception.

Oops, I just focused on the drawing itself, instead of the difficult to read text box.

It does seem oddly familiar, so I might have seen some more stuff like this somewhere. I guess I should dig through my 600gb worth of stuff to see if I have it.

Thanks.

Andrew Ritchie's website can be found here, and while it gives a broad overview of his career, it lacks specifics. However, it does seems that Ritchie hasn't done all that much so far into his career.

This is a list of the artwork he has done for White Wolf. And these, exhibits one & two, are specific works of his.

Amazing adaptation of Lovecraft to comic book format. Awesome story. The punchlines Reminded me of stories in Epic and Heavy Metal (comic art) magazines from ages ago. A great find, Tannhauser!

Ah, that explains a few things. I knew I have seen it somewhere, and it was on some of the whitewolf materials.

Good find. I'm not too keen on this sort of artwork, but it captures the Lovecraftian universe pretty well. Too short to be awesome, though.

I have one of these comic book adaptations in my collection as well:

I'm afraid I'm too lazy to scan the entire contents, though.
