Hear me out. Imagine if you could actually have your character get married in a fallout game? It would be kind of like in fallout 2, but with more than 2 people who have no combat ability at all. You could marry any npc as long as they don't have a connection to the main story, and marrying them would make them a companion. (If they already are a companion, they would get a special companion perk.) Thoughts?

Hmmmm...i don't know, it's definitely not like a real marriage.

They take your supplies, your hard earned exp, no safe sex in the wasteland so expect babies or rabies, no special cutscenes...
That would have to be some party member for you to give up on all of that. Exp losing is probably the worst. Anyway, you're not a Jedi master hiring a padawan, they could get killed in no time.

Inbefore someone comes up with the "LARPING" argument.. Well I believe such things aren't really needed. Even in FO2 I found this was a very silly and annoying feauture.. Also, didn't Fable already pull this Marriage stuff?

There is marriage in Fable. In all 3 games, I think. If I remember correctly, you can make kids too?

When it comes to Fallout, the whole idea seemed quite unnatural to me (in Fallout 2), and I avoided it on most of my playthroughs.
It is true that marriage can make a game seem far more realistic, but only if the marriage itself seems realistic, which it wasn't in Fallout 2.

In fable you can marry several times, have kids and if you die I think you'll play as them, this may sound cool, but it's not, it's soooo boring, maybe this system would be better in a fallout game, but I dont think they'll use it

Not as a staple of the game. It could possibly be the after a (or maybe some) quest(s) that a dialogue bubble from some throw-life-to-the wind rebel of the opposite (or same?) sex asks you to marry them (the personality has to fit someone that would propose on the fly, and match their gender). After that unique dialogue bubbles appear from time to time but it will probably mainly consist of some "benefits" that increase skills, free things (especially food, maybe a unique kind of food), and a House in town to sleep in, like a souped up romantic version of you and Bittercup's relationship in FO3.

Well it was in fallout 2, so it wouldn't surprise me if bethsoft put it in the next fallout considering their track record.

But anyway, I think it's a good idea. As long as it's implemented in some way where it's a mandatory thing or do what dragon age did.

And if you are a male chaarcter and you dismiss them they will keep half of yoru inventory and caps, but if you are a female character you will get half of theirs?

I actually did get the idea after playing a session of Fable 2. I just thought it wasn't used as well as it could be. The only fable where your spouse joins you in combat is 3, but even then they only help you if it's another player you married over xbox live.

Also, to anyone who doesn't like this idea, you could always just ignore it. Just never steer a conversation with an npc in a romantic direction.
