Masks

Crel

First time out of the vault
I decide to make a mask to cover up some of my horrible texturing skills, when I realized the different ways these hazard masks are built. I made 8 different variants of the same mask, and need viewpoints on which are not only practical, but look good as well. Their 3d renders I just stuck the pic in photoshop and gave it the halftone pattern.

Here is a website with some. The 1944 german Optische Gasmaske GM-44Ill is freakin AWSOME :!: . I'll attempt to make more complex and complete masks as on this webite. The opening page has random pictures that are selected when you enter the site, there is even one with kids wearing them  . Edit: Was surfing the web and found this pic, haha never thought of that, makes sense though.

The tubes from the gas mask to the filters are way too long.

Other than that, horrible.

I actually like these. A lot. And I'm not kidding.
I don't know what your plans are with these "3D renders", though, but the above pic in halftones, I dunno, I just totally dig the sketchiness of your style. Thing is, of course, that your renders don't feel very Fallout-ish, but you still seem to be able to add this je-ne-sais-quoi to your work and I, personally, like it.
As 3D renders it lacks all the qualities it should have, but as a 2D piece of work this stuff works. I wonder if that is a result of your inability to make decent 3D renders (pardon the expression, I don't mean anything bad by it) or if, maybe, it is just your way of working. In either case: you can only become better.

Your av is awesome too, btw (I assume you made it yourself, yes?).

Great site link! Not only do they have lots of masks, but many are old and they've been sorted by nation and time! This is really useful...

Your avatar rocks as well.
