Mass Effect 3

Debut trailer. Got a nice desperate war feel to it. Hope it's a better game than ME1 and a better RPG than ME2

I also hope this time around choices you made actually matter, instead of the pathetic threading in Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2.

It looks pretty good-- a nice post-apocalyptic situation. Almost reminds me of Half Life 2, in a way. I wonder what the amount of playing on Earth itself you will do.

Well, you know what I mean. And that's what counts!

It does look neat, though. I didn't like ME2 very much and I actually never played ME1. But this looks worth buying-- at least based on a single trailer which doesn't show any gameplay.

Hopefully the choices made in 1 and 2 matter(more than just cameos) in this one. And it needs fallout style ending slides/cutscenes for everything.

War of the wor.. Oh cool.
I actually liked it, but it was sooo predictable what'll happen in part 5 though. :/

I agree very much with that.

Though I dont think its a bad move to remove the "RPG" of Mass Effect when youconsider how much of it is just combat and action. Its in my eyes really better left as action genre.

Nothing against making a good RPG. But I think we both know that Bioware really is not the best for that (anymore) and we cant expect "RPG" qualities from block buster games anyway. That time is pretty much over. And I have to say for Mass Effect 2 it was the better move to remove all those RPG mechanics and such (more or less). Better have a decent action game then a half-arsed RPG. You know like Gears of war or something.

Mass Effect 2 was better game than 1 for dropping the veneer of RPGness, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about either one.

A gritty brit sniper, why sounds like perfect companion fodder.
Oh wait, already got gritty metal cat thingy alien sniper, nevermind.

I would expect so.

I think it'll be a "gotta collect them all" ally-hunt (through making friends or motivating enemies, I would think). Instead of just getting extra sidekicks, you'll need to get whole factions to play by your side?

At least, that's what ME2 felt like it was leading up to. Like the Queen you released (or killed) in ME1, said in ME2 she would help you when the time came?

Anyhow, I'm not a big fan of the ME series, but I'll give it a shot.

Of course not. But since I had the "luck" to play ME 2 (going trough Me1 right now) I think its the better choice. I mean if I really would have a choice I would want some game with a deep RPG experience. But thats to much to expect from either Bioware or considering the whole direction of "popular" RPGs right now.

Actualy to say I am so far to hope that BIoware will FINALLY go in a different direction this time. I want something that is not always the same "go collect nations/companions/factions/underwear of your grandmah then kill the super hidden faction/boss/evil grandmah" plot. It gets boring. Fast. And leads always to the same predictable conclusion.

I know Bioware has some skill when it comes to the writting and NPCs. I Liked most of the NPCs in ME2 much more then in Dragonage for example simply because the interaction was shorter and the interaction with the ship feelt better done then like the camp in DA. But it still feelt forced and some of the missions are waaay to rushed. Oh look here, we need to test this hardware so you have a reason to enter the end game area and thus would you and all of your team Sheepard please go on board of this shuttle for some mission which is no one for no reason so we can include a cinematic where your crew is kidnapped ... I was most of the time happy with the story of ME2 (except that it feelt similar to almost any other Bioware plott ... leaving alone ME1) but the part where the crew of your ship is kidnaped feelt so extremly rushed its not funny anymore. For some reason you leave your ship in a shuttle, a short cinematic, your crew is gone and then you enter the last portal to rescue them. Why have they not included a mission with the shuttle ... it would have made more sense. Otherwise for an Biowaregame its pretty good. And considering how cheap ME1 and ME2 are right now I can only recommend to get those. If you want some shooter action and dont expect a really deep roleplaying experience. On the other side though ... I really really hope for ME3 they rework that strange dialogue system. To often you find your self with some answer which you really did not expect from your chracter.

i saw me 2 on steam for $20 so i picked it up

either im totally messing up on stuff or this game is moving incredibly slow

Pft, ME3 will be good for playing only once anyway, like ME1 and 2. There is no real C&C in the game and if you are through it once, you mostly saw everything.

So far, it's just a shooter with dialogues. ME3 can only make it more shooter and less dialogues. :>
