Mass Effect Remaster, NOT Remake

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
You know, I have never played a single game of the franchise, didn't care about, didn't like Shepard, etc. And after the reveal? I still don't.

It is the same game with some QOL improvements, upgraded graphics and terrible ending of 3, which they never fixed. For a moment I considered buying it, but I can get it dirt cheap as it is, no reason to spend that much money on a graphical mod.

Mass Effect Paragon is still the only way to go, because Renegade is just evil for the sake of being evil. New Vegas made actually being evil worth it in some ways. So, is there anyone here that is interested about it and why?

I'm planning to play the entire trilogy from beginning to end because It's part of my plan to actually sit down and finish and commit to a game series for once. Kingdom Hearts was part of this plan too. All I can say is who cares about the ending of mass effect 3's cumsplosion. YOU GET ALIEN BOOBS! (Also, renegade gives you cool red eyes)

I feel like this might be actually worth it over the OG trilogy. The original games didnt exactly have timeless art style, and compressing the nightmare of differing platforms and DLC into one experience seems like a good idea

I disagree. There were quite a few renegade options that led to better outcomes than if you had chosen the paragon option. Obviously just being racist is rarely the good option, but not letting people live can end up being the “better” outcome.

Anyway, I used to like mass effect but I kind of lost all interest in the series shortly after 3 came out. A remaster is pointless to me. What I’d rather see is the tactical Mass Effect 1 that E3 gameplay footage had promised us instead of the clunky gears of war clone we got.

I saw from screenshots that they’ve added lens flare where there wasn’t before, which is particularly humorous to me as mass effect 1 had notoriously bad lens flare.

I'm not buying it with no ending change. That was the easiest way they could have gotten 10 million sales right there.

They already did edit the endings didn't they? The absolute mountain of DLC that surrounds Mass Effect has fogged my memory.

The added a slideshow type thing that fills you in on what the consequences of your actions are, such as the genophage cure and all that, but that really isn’t enough in my opinion.

The whole “choose what color the crucible’s laser will be” was the stupid part, along with the “star child” AI thing. People shit on the ending for mass effect 3, but honestly a good half of the game needed to be redone in order to have a satisfying ending. Kai Leng is fucking gay as hell, and I mean that in the least homophobic way possible.

Yeah exactly, I elaborated a little more in my post but honestly I don’t feel like getting into why the mass effect ending sucks, it’s been a decade since anyone really cared.

I remember not really caring even as I was watching it. Mass Effect 3 was already disappointing and the signposting for what kind of ending it was going to be was already there from the start.

From what i remember, people got pissed because some dev said that the endings would take into account a lot of choices you make in the previous two games and that there wouldn't be colored endings, like a blue, red or green ending. But what was shown at release was literally that, different colored endings.

If they aren't going to change the ending to 3 I am not buying it. Mass Effect 3 had the worst ending ever made in the history of storytelling. The fact that Bioware refuses to admit that their ending is bad and still stand by it in order to stick it to gamers who said that their work of fart is trash really shows how little Bioware has learned in the past decade.

How is the series as a whole? I only played ME2 on the PS3. I didn't really care for it, because it felt like companion side quests the game. My brother who played the trilogy, said play the first 2 and skip the 3rd.

I played all 3 games haven't gotten into andromeda yet. i prefer the first and second one to the third. though i started with the third one and then went back and played the second then the first. i'll probably get the remaster and play through it again before i try andromeda.

1st one is pretty good. Promising worldbuilding, solid story, decent characters and a fantastic "classic" sci-fi atmosphere. Gameplay is on the crappy side but it's serviceable. Flawed but very characterful game worth playing.

2nd game trades the 70's sci-fi for modern Hollywood and the plot might as well not happen in terms of how relevant it is, but the gameplay is sharpened up and the worldbuilding + characters are pretty damn good. People adore the cast in this series and 2 is the primary reason why. Definitely worth playing even though it's basically filler, it's really good filler.

3 doubles down on the Hollywood and ablates what was left of the atmosphere, gameplay continues to improve but worldbuilding and characters are discarded for the sake of focusing on the "bigger picture" and actually having a story unlike 2. Unfortunately the story is a convoluted and poorly paced mess. Only worth playing if the world and characters have hooked you in to see how it ends, like the crappiest season of your favourite show.

This is pretty much what I recall, though I never actually got particularly far into the 3rd game.

I don't trust Bioware enough to even consider a purchase. Their track record leaves much to be desired and their commitment to the ending is still unwise.

Anyone else remembers Warcraft 3 Reforged? Worst case, Bioware and EA releases a buggy barebones remaster, prevent people from buying vanilla Mass Effect 1-3, and forcibly upgrades all classic games to the buggier 'modern' version by default.

It's why I installed mods like EGM, MEHEM etc. They factor in most of your choices from ME 1 and 2 properly, makes the war tense by losing assets as the war drags on, includes new & interestong additions to the game (like the Evacuation of Thessia) and in the case of MEHEM, changes the ending. It's probably the only way I will ever play ME3 ever again.

About right. I don't hold a personal hatred for 3 like some because a weakness of mine across fiction is I can stomach poor and unambitious finales if I'm invested in the world and characters and want to see it through.

Oh that part of 3 angered me. To get the best outcome for the war effort I had to grind that shitass multiplayer mode. Hope that's not in the remake.
