Meet the Spy

The new Sniper main item's pretty neat, kinda odd but neat, it's a bow and arrow that from what I've heard you just use it to pin Heavies and other targets to walls.
 
They are getting the bow / arrow, as well as a back shield to prevent spies from backstabbing them.
 
Sounds neat, I'm thinking what their secondary will be, or is that the shield?

If so then I wonder what their new melee would be.

only works once, though. but causes a cooldown on the spy's knife. guess we'll see a lot more snipers gunned down with the spy's revolver now. :)

i'm kinda disappointed in the sniper's stuff though. i play the sniper a lot, but what i was looking forward to most was a decent replacement for the shitty SMG. doesn't look like i'll be that lucky. :(

the usefulness of the bow will remain to be seen... but i can see some uses for it. :twisted:
 
I like the Demoman quite a bit when I'm on defense, I'm wondering what he'll get, I've heard something like he gets the dynamite satchels like what's on the back of little signs in some levels, but I wonder what his new primary would be.

That and it'll be cool to see what the Spy will get eventually.
 
Soldier needs an update the most, IMO.

There are always 3 items in the new packs, so we don't know what the 3rd sniper item will be. Something to replace the SMG I'm sure.

My favorite is the second from left, second from bottom.
Also, rightmost, second from bottom. And bottom.

could be that the jar of piss to throw at spies is the third item. remember the jarate poster?

"Is a woman"? people have often implied that the Pyro is a chick, but this will jumpstart that controversy again...

and what's with the Dracula thing? is that a pun at the medic's bloodsucker? or something more?

seriously. half the time i play with the sniper i'm easily number one on most servers. the only thing cramping my style is often team mates blocking your shots. but no more!
 
Okay, this is lame, the new system for getting weapons, through random unlocks, instead of getting achievements is just stupid.

First off I'm playing in a game, I'm the second best in the game, then someone joins in, goes spectator, and after playing in spectator for 3 seconds, gets the Ambassador.

Then we have some Medic afk in the middle of a room, some enemy Pyro gets past us and blows this Medic guys head off with a crit shotgun blast, the Medic respawns, gets Jarate.

After that I'm playing a Pyro and I get 3-4 kills back to back with a Backburner back critical on a small group, 2 people I kill get weapons, one gets the Razorback, the other gets a Backburner.

Seriously, WTF! Just make a shop system where you can spend money or something, or just keep the damn achievement milestones system.
 
yup... a sniper in my team that was sucking ass got the two most interesting sniper items in one map. i (still) got nothing and seriously owned everyone's ass that round.

lets say this is getting fucking frustrating.

i disliked the "achievements to unlock" thing, but this is way way way worse...

i've heard people frequently log in to near empty servers now, simply to afk at spawn and receive items.

You're not really in a position to be outraged.


Also, I'm gonna go try it out now. I really like the fact that when you disguise as an enemy spy, enemies see you as being a spy on their team disguised as opposite team. There's a lot of interesting balances in this patch. 8-)
 
I boosted to get some of the achievements, only because with my computer and the lag I get with every setting on low, even then I'd never be able to get some of them.

Anyhow, I'm not outraged about anything, just annoyed.

I'd rather a system where you could just earn points or money and just buy a weapon or something, rather than an achievement system that tons of people boost in to get an advantage right off the bat with an update, or one where you just get rewarded for doing the harrowing task of sitting in the spectator menu.

Seriously though, aside from whether you boost, get them normal, use an unlocker, or do whatever, this new system is terrible. It rewards you for doing nothing and being counter-productive.

I don't mind the new system. Valve was in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, as a lot of people didn't like the unlock system they had before (myself included.)

Soon enough we'll all have the new items, and nobody will care anymore.
 
I got a Cloak And Dagger, guess how, I joined a game.

I jumped into a game, then got it instantly. Seriously, what is with this new system, there should at least be some kind of general trigger for these things.
 
i now got all items, plus several doubles (like the Razorback, Kritzkrieg, Bonk!).

but there are people who still report not having ANY of the items. sucks to be them.

i guess the system aint bad for "noobs", but for people like me who already had all items, it must kinda suck if you got bad luck.

PS: atm it seems like they upped the drop rates, probably because this is almost the end of the "free weekend". i'd suggest getting in some playtime now if you don't have any drops yet.
