Fallout 2 mod Megamod version 2.46 Bug Reports and Suggestions - Closed

Usually, errors like that right at the begining mean one thing - wrong installation process.
How did you install the mod in details?
 
Hey again Drobovik,

You helped me once before but this time I was just stupid and it seems I solved it on my own.
I had a sleepless night so I uninstalled, deleted, and erased every trace previous installation and installed again.

So the steps are as follows:
1. Installed fresh GoG F2.
2. Deleted patch000.dat from F2 folder.
3. Checked proto files for read-only, yes they are.
4. Copied Megamod files to F2 installation directory, copied msvcr71.dll in there too and ran ProcessDat2 - it completed successfully (imho).
5. Game runs, of course in 640x480 - I can enter the temple.
6. Copied 2.45.4 files onto 2.45.3 files, replaced them all. Game runs, low res, I can enter the temple.
7. Copied HiRes patch files, f2_res.ini has been replaced. Running f2_res_Config.exe, enabling the patch, changing resolution in ddraw.ini to 1920x1080.
8. ????
8. Profit. It works now. Last time during msvcr71 step I forgot about it and ProcessDat2 threw me an error, so that could be why it didn't work, had to run it second time and then it completed (after I was rudely reminded that there is no .dll...)

Well sorry for taking your time Drobovik, and space on forum for stupid posts that could be solved by just reinstalling everything.
Also if you see anything wrong in my installation process, please let me know so I will avoid disappointment later in the game.

Anyone else crash after the fight in Den residential helping Laura's gang? I've done it twice now and right after combat ends and Laura leaves the game crashes. I'll try it again later.

Really digging the mod by the way! I thought I had played it before, but I was playing the RP. Gives it a new game feel with all the changes.
 
I'm having problems buying the car. I have the part required and the money to pay for it, but I don't get a dialog option to get him to sell it to me. It's just let me think about it I'll come back later or let me ask you some more questions.

For all: A release will be out very soon. I was hoping to have one out already, but then real life got busy. And now things are about to get even busier for a while. So, I am going to have to just release what I have. From the readme list of fixes:

The price of the car has been changed to 10 000 but Smittys dialog wasn't updated to reflect that (you need 10 000 instead of the 5000 he says). So yeah, you need more money.

Ahhhhhhh! Yeah, it said he wants 5k and I have 8k, so I thought I had enough.... Thanks again man.
 
MIB, you rock for keeping this thing going, gotta say that I am really enjoying the mod and it breathes new life into one of my all time favorite games.
 
I'm still having problems getting the car. I got the 10k, but as soon as I click the dialog option to buy the car from smitty the screen goes black and never recovers. I can click around and hear the game still running, but the screen is completely black.
 
Someone else had a similar problem. Don't put things in the trunk before you buy the car.
 
It's in this thread. Just have to go back a little... maybe no more than 5 pages...

Edit: Wait. Nevermind. The culprit was a bad script. There was some extra code in the Smitty script that did not belong there. @Darek pointed it out to me. Sorry.

Yeah, best thing to do is wait. Like I said, I hope to have the 2.46 version out next week.

Does anyone knowledgeable know, is the megamod guide on wikia(or any other guide I am not aware of) of any use? It does not seem to be very up to date and I suppose tons of quests and whatnot have been added since then. I would love to play it but at least a simple (updated) list of available quests would be much appreciated. Just to be on the safe side and not to miss any great content. Thx
 
Don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but once I equip Cassidy with Power Armor he loses his ability to wield "Pistol" type weapons. He can only use rifles and shotguns. If I switch him back to combat armor he can use pistols again.

Speaking of which, does anyone have a backup of the guide Morticia and I wrote a long time ago? Seems to have disappeared from the net.

Here is a fix. Megamod is missing these frms for custom Cassidy Power armor
Copy them to data/art/critters
Unarmored Cassidy animation has the same problem, though I doubt anyone uses that so no biggy.
Also, there is this old bug that got fixed in latest RP but not in the MM...

I looked at it and this is correct. It's because he starts out wearing his leather armor. Apparently the Mapper don't/can't save the armor stats for any critter placed on a map. You will see the stat gain when you add the armor to the critter but it just won't be saved, and the next time you load the map the critter's armor values will be reset to zero while still wearing the armor.

There's two ways of fixing this, either stamp a leather armor for his base proto (it won't carry over when he levels up, and also since his base proto is being injected into the master.dat file anyway, this shouldn't be much extra work), or simply put the armor in his inventory instead of having him wearing it (if you want you could script him to wear it on first map enter).

Not sure if there are any other critters with this problem, most critters don't wear armors anyway. I did look at a few in New Reno though, and they have stamped armor while also wearing armor.

I seem to remember the last version was from 2010, though I'm not sure. There's definitely stuff missing here, but it could be that Morticia never had time to add them from my notes in the first place. I can honestly not remember.

If I get some time over and are in the mood I might try to update the guide during the summer (no promises though).
