About Metro 2033

Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.

In 2013, the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.

The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.

You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.</blockquote>

I kinda addicted to European-made game now. *replaying STALKER for the 12 times, with different mods ever since he got it as a Christmas present* They have the balls to do games that American developers won't be developing now. :o

Yeah this has a potential to be really good, looking forward to it.Cryostasis, Stalker, Pathologic, Void, Boling Point..all great ambitious games.Hopefully this one will join them.

Good thing this for consoles too. My PC is pretty subpar. Best looking game I got to run on it was World of Warcraft.

True dat.

Definitely going to keep an eye on this one. Probably wait for some reviews first before buying, though.

yes, reviews first (honest one of course). Russian software ... isnt known for its stability. Even though they seem to have a lot of potential.

I read a technical interview with the lead tech guy for it. Im surprised how high they can push it on the 360. Apparently having the same parts made it a lot easier for them to optimize and you can expect Medium - High level graphics. Ultra high is still reserved for PC's though, as is the pleasure of using a mouse =p

After reading a little about this game some time ago and watching those vids released, despite my good wishes for European devs, I'm not expecting anything new from this game. It's a linear FPS game or if you want, a mutated FPS game that has grown middle finger of some RPG precursor. Next gen stuff and that entire PR shit...
No new "The Witcher" or something like that at least.... Book adaptations are rarely awe-inspiring anyway...

Needless to say, I would be glad to be wrong about all this.

p.s. I hope they will find some strong distribution company for the US, it's often the weakest link for east-European developers and a reason that a lot of really good games are widely unknown to those customers.
