5. Install the game and mod to a new location. Do not use the location you usually use. Pick a new folder entirely or, better yet, a different partition of your hard drive.

could you tell me why this is needed?
I'm just curious...

Like I said, it made no sense to me. I was having trouble getting my mod to work and just tried it. I had installed/removed/reinstalled the game to the same location 4 or 5 times when it stopped working. This worked, and I saw some others on here who also got the game to work by doing this. I thought there was just some remnants of old games there, one of the reasons I also recommended a registry cleaner. But I don't know for certain.

Also, are you sure you are going to Colly? That location is not ready. If you are going there, then stop for now.

Hmm, ok, guess I only read the 2.1 readme...

But that step-to-step guide is rather confusing at some points...

1. Install the game and then 5. Install the game and mod to a new location???

Then what's the proto folder? The folders from the mod?

It's not a step by step guide. I said in the readme that it is a list of things to keep in mind. Go back and read it in the actual readme file.

There is a folder called 'proto.' It contains a lot of the information for the game. If you don't know this, then you must not have seen it. And if you haven't seen it, why do I get the feeling that your mod is not installed correctly?

I know, I said it only to let you know not all the new locations are dead for me
btw, thanks for the anwser

Fence: "Escort Jimmy to New Reno." But where's Jimmy?

Jimmy is not dead. He survived the last quest. And last I saw him, he said to me, "These bastards are dead. Our work is done. Let's head out." So I head out back to C.H. and Jimmy is nowhere to be found.

If this turns out to be a gameplay problem, I'll be happy to be moved to the megamod gameplay thread.

But I think Jimmy is genuinely missing from where he ought to be at this point.

MIB?

**EDIT. New info***

Okay. I kinda get it now. I travelled around doing other quests and then I bumped into Jimmy the screw. Few things:

1) If my quest is to escort Jimmy to New Reno, he really ought to start in Modoc with me, shouldn't he?

2) If I'm supposed to bump into him, then shouldn't I really bump him into him on the way to Reno? I went to Reno and back to Modoc without finding him, gave up, went to Broken Hills, and on my way from Broken Hills to Modoc is when I met up with Jimmy. Perhaps this is a timing issue since I am driving the car?

3) Speaking of the car. It did not appear on the screen where I met Jimmy. I sweated for a minute, but when I left the screen, I ended up back on route to Modoc, where I arrived with the car.

As I remember it, there are two ways to do this. Jimmy is a thief and doesn't want to be found close to modoc. You can either get a special encounter on the way to reno in which case you are sent back, or you can go to reno and meet up with him there. If you don't get the encounter, he will be in reno.

That reminds me: I should probably add a timer to make that quest go away after so many days. As Chris said, you can encounter Jimmy in one of those two ways, but you are supposed to go directly to New Reno to meet up with him....unless he sends you back for some reason. I need to add the timer to completely remove this situation if the player decides to go sightseeing around the wasteland instead of continuing on the job. It makes no sense that Jimmy would wait in New Reno indefinitely.

As for the last question:

Thanks for pointing this out. The car will show up in the next release.

Looking forward to play next release

"Arroyo Error" as save game description.

Once in a while my save game shows up with the above description. The save games are openable, but they have many weird small bugs. I save often in new slots, so this has never been a stopper. I just revert to an earlier save and replay a small section.

This happens I'd say about every sixth save, or every hour or so of gameplay. Does anyone else experience this?

**Edit**

2) Also, in Broken Hills, when performing Cold Hearts Quest regarding Micky, His floating text in red is overlayed by PC's floating text in white -- making it pretty impossible to read the pertinent red text.

I found these and already fixed the cause.

Wish I could say when that is gonna be. I have not had much time to work on the mod lately as I have been dealing with school and other real world issues. Hopefully I will have something by the end of this month.

MIB88,

I was thinking with Fence, when he tells you to escort jimmy to reno, what about altering dialogue for him?

Something along the lines of: I want you to go with jimmy to reno.
Player: Where do I meet him?
Fence: I don't know. He'll either meet you on the way, or meet you there.

Just stops the confusion.

You know, I had changed the dialog for the first encounter when going to the warehouse to remove this confusion. I had forgotten about this one. I'll take care of it.

Hello there. Im wondering if this mod is compatible with Killaps latest patch and how do I install both to work fine, can anybody help, please? Theres so many pages to go through here.....

I recently installed Fallout 2, then Killaps patch, then the megamod 2 and it seemed to work fine, but when I enter the temple, everything is black and all I can see is my characters plus the mouse pointer, which if I move around, the grid symbol keeps cloning itself on the screen.

Apreciate all help, thanks. :)

The Killap patch is incuded in the megamod, thats where you went wrong. Re-install F2 then the megamod.

Thanks for the info, I also just read the description on the megamod update 2.1, which mentions my problem.

I had only read the 2.0 update description.

EDIT: Damm, I cannot get this to work. I feel so dumb right now lol. I have tried everything and nothing works, all I get now when I click the desktop icon, is that it brings up one of the loading screens and then I get this message:

"Error:

AreaInit: Error loading cities."

Please Help.

No, you haven't tried everything. Learn to do a search of this thread, and you will find the answers to your questions. As for this error: you didn't include the .exe that is included in the mod. And click on the .exe in the folder, not the shortcut made automatically (unless you create a new one).

Yea, I didnt figure out the search thing, all I got was the topics instead of the posts but now I just saw the option at the bottom. Fixed the exe problem, then got the temple black screen problem but fixed that now too. :)

Been trying to play the 2.1 megamod for a few weeks now and there seems to be quite a memory leak. I've been getting application errors about 15 to 20 minutes in to a session every time I play. I still haven't gotten much past the Den. I'm not sure what kind of info you might need about the game or my setup. I do know that Windows perfmon shows my pagefile usage grow up to 4GB at witch point I get the app error and the message saying I'm out of virtual memory. I have 2GB physical memory and 2GB pagefile memory. For a game like F2 that should be way more than enough. Let me know if you need any further info or need me to do something else for testing.

@Horseman: I really don't know what the error could be. I don't have errors like that...and I only have a system with half the memory. Is that all that happens, though? I mean, does it just randomly crash saying application error? Also, think back: is there something that always triggers the crash, like entering an area, combat, looking at an item, etc.? And, I guess the biggest thing is to make sure no other programs are running in the background.
