Michael Stackpole joins Wasteland team

Designer Michael Stackpole, who worked on Bard's Tale III and Wasteland, has joined the new Wasteland team over on InXile, per Brian Fargo.<blockquote>One of the original designers of Wasteland is @MikeStackpole and he has signed on as a designer for the new Wasteland!</blockquote>

Mmh.. going from what I've seen, I'm not a fan of Fargo and inXile, but they seem serious this time. Don't know whether they can manage to fund the project through Kickstarter though, but I sure hope so.

Well, they weren't considering to fund it with Kickstarter before right? I imagine they were pitching this (in the sense of "Wasteland 2: Retribution of Whatever", not this particular iteration) to publishers who turned it down.

Ehh, if only.. Although it was the only game in the series I played, I have very fond memories of the eighth installment.

As far as Wasteland 2 goes, I wouldn't get too excited. Unlike the Interplay days, InXile caters to the consumers at the other end of the RPG spectrum(casual action), and I don't foresee them changing their ways.

They have already said that they'd do Wasteland 2 as a top-down retro title just as the community wants it. In fact, uh, there wouldn't be much of a point in doing otherwise, they're asking people to fund it, and people have to be passionate/have their say in the process, otherwise they won't give their hard earned money.
