More rumours

A fellow calling himself Eragon on the RPGCodex Boards posted another rumour about the recent IPLY dealings:
There's supposed to be a big meeting at Interplay on Friday (4/23). The employees are going to find out if they are getting their backpay or not.

Stories going through the grapevine said that Herve tried to sell Interplay to Vivendi this week and got laughed out of the building for the price that he was asking.

I expect Interplay to close its doors tomorrow (4/23) at least for development, and file for bankruptcy soon after.
Ouch, well Herve that's what you get for running the business into the grave. Are you proud of Fbos now Chuck ?
Thanks to Briosafreak for informing me..

So it's finally over heh?

It's a sad, sad thing. Interplay was once a proud, grand company who had a great relationship with its fanbase.

Now you see what happens if you don't listen to your fans...

Bye bye, Interplay...

Personally, I put no stock whatsoever in this rumour. Rumours always abound in times like these, I'm not about to listen to all of them.

Well, I'll guess we'll all find out this wekend, then.
There's a big chance this is true though. It's been a long time coming...

Will be exciting months ahead. After everything is sorted out the assets will be sold of beginning summer I think. The Fallout license will probably be sold until fall and we can all hold our breath who will get it.

I know at least part of that is true or at least that's the talk that's going around - not something just pulled out of his hat. There is supposed to be a meeting tomorrow about who will get paid and who will get laid off. As for whether or not Interplay will continue developing, we'll have to see who gets laid off and who doesn't.

I also know that Herve is trying hot and heavy to sell off Interplay to people right now. It also explains why he's buying up that stock.

Fucking Frenchman.

Uses the GD company as a piggy bank for Titus, strips it to a shell of it's former greatness, lays off all of the talented developers, runs how many franchises into the ground, doesn't follow through on franchises that could bring needed capital in, and generally does a piss-poor job.

edit- hah, didn't submit quick enough. if anyone wants to delete this redundant post, go ahead.

Luke Haase says

that due to missed payroll, coming to work is now optional. also, it seems Interplay isn't really -owed- money from "certain distributors", which i'm taking to mean the three million dollars that the company's life is supposed to hang on.

if that doesn't give some credability to this rumour, i think it atleast confirms that Interplay's so fucked up the ear, recovery is an unlikely longshot.

sounds more and more to me like that conference call was just an infomercial for Interplay and its properties, to entice potential buyers

Yeah. That's pretty stupid. Especially since he's being a nice guy and informing you of what's up.

Leave the dude alone.

Don't these people have anything better to do?

Conversations with Interplay’s distributors are ongoing; also, a point of clarification: Interplay is not “owed” money from these distributors. Any potential cash from these parties would be part of negotiated payments for product sales advances or some other transaction.

Lastly, it is true that Mr. Caen purchased some 9 million shares. No, he would not be able to take any action like the one you mention without approval of the Board of Directors (FRYMUHAN: I HAD ASKED LUKE IF HERVE COULD TRY TO GO PRIVATE AND SCREW SHAREHOLDERS.) And, of course, public announcements will be made as soon as there is resolution to these issues.

you aren't sarcastic, here? there's rumours on good authority that Interplay's in ruins and Herve is trying to sell it off. Haase's news is getting bleaker. but Interplay hasn't made the situation very clear for -shareholders-. as shoreholders who haven't been well-informed by Interplay in the past, why the hell shouldn't they be giving people migranes with their demands for answers, at a time like this?

I told you guys that on the 20th http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6166 it`s like everyone knew that except the small investors with shares. A bit ludicrous really.

Even if IPLYE fills bankruptcy papers and stuff, it doesn't mean they close down, they can come to an arrangment of some sort with the creditors and continue operating. I've seen that a lot at my job. Some specific laws like the CCA in the US and C36 in Canada, which are similars to a bankruptcy, allows a company to continue to exist and operate, even with heavy debts.

True s4ur0n27, we`ve been discussing that, my doubts go more in the sense of if they get creditors protection where will they operate and with whom...

they still have to be able to pay the employees, too... unless some of 'em don't mind working for free.

taks

I wouldn't be surprised if some big company(EA, Microsoft.....) waits till Herve agrees to sell IPLYE for a ludicrous price, and rack up everything. Interplay has some valuable franchises.

That wouldn't surprise me either. Naturally, it would have to be sold to a company with absolutely no handle on the Fallout world for that extra special Caen touch.
