MR Nov update

In Fallout 1 it seemed more like deathclaws are androgyneous -- like Godzilla in that American Godzilla movie (born pregnant IIRC?).

:? shouldn't there be a lot more of them then? And to me it seemed like only the mother layed eggs

In Fallout 2 they apparently changed that. The hierarchy reminds me more on packs of mammals than lizards.

True, but what's more likely, the behavior on fallout or the behavior on fallout2(appart from the talking thingie  )

Maybe something like an insect hive? One fertile queen, gazillions of infertile drones and a few males every now and then.

The problem is that insects have a larva form in which their future role is decided. I can't imagine deathclaw larvae.

Lisac2k!!! fast! make a deathclawa larva!!1!!one

does it say anything about how this really is in teh bible?

I would try and base it on some real life lizards of some type.

1) The chameleon's that the deathclaws FEVed from
2) Komodo dragon's - Live in large groups. Not so much a family group but they tollerate each other.
3) Crocodiles, fight each other for territory. This wont doo as in F2 they traveled in packs.

So maybe make it like this.

1) Queen/Mother Deathclaw - The current breeding mother of the pack, uauslly a lot more aggreesive and stronger due to the urge to protect her young. This would fit both F1 and F2. Maybe as each deathclaw female comes on heat she in turn becomes the breeding mother.

2) Female Deathclaw - Currently not breeding or laying eggs, this Deathclaw does not have the same hormonal embalance that causes the Mothers to be so aggressive (ie: non PMS deathclaw)

3) Alpha Male - The biggest strongest male secures the breeding rights within the pack. In other words he is bigger and meaner than all the other males (we want bigger claws on him!)

4) Male - These are the other males who got out manovered by the alpha male and are not as strong.

Perhaps the females tend to be slighty stronger than the males (I *think* this is the case with lizards but not sure sorry)

You can then thow in baby deathclaws etc...

Don't the betas kill the alpha if he becomes too weak?

Maybe I'm just mixing this up with all the bullshit biology Hollywood has fed me with.

or maybe the pack consists of only females as the males leave the pack when they're old enough(like lions)? but maybe that wouldn't work as the way lions hierarchy works is that there's an alpha male and all the females have can bebbeh's...??? I'm really confused, what you suggested, Qwert sounds highly probable though.
