Music that you associate with FNV

Meurzh

Spurs that Jingle Jangle
...or Fallout in general.

I'm not really talking about 50s music in general (but that's fine if that's what you usually think of), but any kind of music (pop, rock, etc) that you've listened to while playing Fallout or made you think of Fallout (and NV in particular).

One artist in particular that stands out to me is Lana del Rey. It might be due to her image being more vintage and 50s inspired, but I feel a lot of her music (especially from her latest album) really sets the mood and atmosphere for me in my playthroughs of NV. I really like the moody aura her songs give off and I think it pairs wonderfully with the atmosphere of FNV.

I used to use this radio mod, lots of songs on it that I associate with wandering the wastes now. This one stands out to me:

Much easier on the ears than that Johnny Guitar crap. Well, maybe crap is too harsh, but hearing that song almost makes me wish for a nuclear winter.

Some music I associate with some Fallout games
  • Fallout New Vegas:

  • Fallout 3:

  • All Fallout games:

I always play games with their own soundtrack, most songs in my music playlists wouldn't feel right or match the games I play :lmao:.

For me, I'd have to say Lorde's cover of Everybody Wants to Rule the World. The original is probably my favorite song of all time, but Lorde's version sounds darker. and I'd say It really captures the essence of the Fallout universe as a whole.

With Fallout New Vegas specifically? It'd have to be this:

A lot of the songs in New Vegas revolve around "letting go" but every time it plays I always stop and take a moment to reflect on all the things that happened in the story. Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and finally Lonesome Road. All those characters who couldn't let go...

Looootsa rockabilly here, but what most stands out is a song I discovered from a mod I installed:

Tons of fun when it came on during combat sections, too.

Fallout 4 used this music so badly. Fallout New Vegas is the perfect game for this. You're a Courier who wanders around the wasteland, going where you're either needed or hated, doing random jobs and having fun.

In Fallout 4 you're a guy who just sits in Sanctuary building penises.

I don't know why, but this song gives me strong New Vegas Vibes

For my part I stick with the music on the games' radio stations, but these days every time I hear a Frank Sinatra song I think New Vegas. Also, I agree with Risewild, Louis Armstrong's A Kiss To Build A Dream On could very well be the theme song for the whole series.

I still get excited when the music plays after the intro cutscene when starting a new game of Fallout: New Vegas. I love Mark Morgan, but Inon Zur's Fallout music in 3 and New Vegas is great. And the way it was changed slightly for that introduction and theme is great.

When it plays and I see "An Obsidian Entertainment production" flash across the screen after the introduction, I already feel immersed in the world.
