Musicians out there ?

Any musicians around ? Let me hear your music. Ever been in a band and had a shitty/awesome moment onstage ? Go ahead and tell.

Apart from my "work" on the Fallout 3 alternative soundtrack mod ( dumb idea ), I'm recording a few demos for my old band, the Bouncin Bigwigs. I'm only in contact with one of the previous members and plan to have him record vocals with me once music is done for good.

Here is an excerpt of a drone I'm working on right now :

Hope you enjoy it...

hell yeah

i was a bad punk and then (many years later) jazz bassist, played piano for years, and resorted to computer music (on trackers and atari st). had some korg and yamaha synths rigged up with my 486. the music i did then is still in some musiccassettes in some friends' cars...

you just gave me enough motivation to take a look into computer music, and what programs i would need to do some stuff.

i guess a sequencer and a few software synths and a software sampler should do the trick. i might even have some dat tapes with environment recordings lying around (i had a monstrously expensive portable dat recorder from akai (iirc)).

YOUR MUSIC: i dont get it. sounds like some live bass recording with a lot of (quite overwhelming) brass and percussion work. the melody sounds a bit off - did you have some "real" music education apart from mad computer skillz?

I don't really record anything I do, but I play quite a few instruments, I play the violin, saxaphone, flute, piano, digeridoo, keyboard, bagpipes, and the sittar.

Well it's actually a drop-D guitar I'm playing, not a bass ( even though it sounds a bit similar because of the way I'm playing it and it's sound ).

I'm using a Line 6 TonePort UX2 for amp simulation, a crappy Ibanez RG 320 guitar and Ableton Live 6 as a sequencer/recorder.

I guess I've had a bit of "real" music education aswell. Went to a classic music school for eight years ( studied violin ) until I was thrown out..Never touched a violin since then, learned the guitar by myself.

Dropped-D guitars must die. Seriously.

I was lucky to have a music school in my home town. I learned to play the flute, then I had piano lessons for about 6 years. (I really don't know how long exactly... maybe even longer.) Then I switched to electric guitar. My teacher was awesome, he once played in a blues rock band, the singer of which was always drunk on stage.
I guess I have quite the musical family, everyone played an instrument at least once in his life and my brother is a violin virtuoso. (he's awesome, really)

I joined a Punk band called "Tanzende Kadaver" (lit. dancing corpses/cadavers/carcasses) when I was 18 (5 years ago).

Sometimes I record my own stupid songs, not in the garage but in my room. Using a crappy microphone. (Hey, I started with headphones plugged in the Mic-Input.) I recently joined myspace just to upload some songs...

Edit: I also can't sing. But that doesn't keep me from trying.

i like that shit. i had TONS of independent label compilations in the mid90s who all sounded like that (beggars banquet label etc). is that you there singing?

well if that wasn't a back-handed compliment.

and yes, me singing in the current band. old band, no.

you look like this english guy doing that fast-speak rap. you see, music is all about the looks, just like brain surgery and astronautics.

damn i forgot the name of that guy. actually, pretty good stuff there.

Hey, MrMumble, that's pretty damn cool. It would be really awesome to hear it once completed.

I'm a composer. I play some piano for theoretic purpouses, played some guitar and bass when I was a kid but sucked, so I mostly just write music. Studied classical composition for two years at teh KJJ conservatory in Prague, plus three years prior to that in Sweden, and have been evolving ever since. I write a lot of symphonic stuff, but to be realistic, right now I'm getting my first completed String Quartet Opus played in a series of concerts, and an album recording later this fall/winter. It's like a fat suite of 15 movements, grouped in movements of 5 that belong 'extra much' to eachother, though there's sort of a connecting line throughout the entire thing. Total time is about 45 min for all 15 movements. I'll post it when the recording's made and done in a few months or so.

(Edit: other stuff away)

Ehehe... lemme guess, "Call me!", right?

w00t!

Hehe, yer, 'tis what it means.

Removed the link tho, remembered why I didn't want to post it. :P

too late, rasmus! the melody sounds very familiar. some anime, right? damn you, composer. i like that stuff. create some anonymous myspace and upload some stuff. can you re-do the violin concerto from bloch for me? thx!

I play drums and have played in several bands. my main band used to be Burden but we quit a while ago. you can still hear our stuff on myspace.

we played a mix of real heavy metal/hardcore and really soft atmospheric stuff. so I suggest listening to more than the first song. our most popular song was "Abstinence", number 5 in the list.

I play the drums, though I'm not particularly good. I played in a couple of bands before, but google tells me there's nothing on the net with it at all. Not a big loss.
One was really really shitty punk band I made with a couple of mates when we were around 15 or 16 called PlanHex. I just used that name everywhere as my nick afterwards because I suck at making names and no one has heard about that shitty band anyway.
The other was some garage stuff I joined during its horrible later years when there was only one original member and it was all with guys that were twice my age at the time. Hellroute 16.
I just started a new band a couple of months back and I'll post something here if we get a myspace or something. We don't even have a name yet, but we've got some pretty good songs. I'm the only one in the band under 35 though. :?

I'm a drummer and I can outplay all yous guys!!

No, not really. I play in a random coverband with a bunch of friends for fun.

Kudos to those who know how to play music instruments. I've always wanted to learn to play the piano, but never seemed to have the time.

I'd love to learn to play now, but I think my time is about to be drastically reduced.
