Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden - Post-apoc & Turn-based

Yea, i saw the trailer a couple of weeks ago. Seems to be a console/PC game, that's borrowing the combat mechanics as well as the RPG elements of XCOM:EU (with possibility to upgrade items in your base). Neither innovative nor interesting. Also, you can't create your own character, and the character options seems to be very limited, much like XCOM, except even more so (if that's even possible).

So I see this game just came out finally.

Is it more like X-COM or Wasteland 2? I'd be more inclined to get it if it's like Wasteland 2. Still interested in it either way. I would just like some skills and stuff outside of combat too especially with alternate solutions like Wasteland had. Everything I keep watching of it is all combat and buying something at stores and stuff. Just curious.

I've bought it but I have yet to play. From what I gathered it should be a lot more like xcom than wl2.

The expansion is out!

Continue the main story and explore many hours of all new content. Expand your team with the veteran stalker Big Khan the moose and get ready to defeat a new threat to Dux, Bormin, Selma and all the others.

In Seed of Evil you must solve the mystery of the powerful and ominous roots which have taken over the Ark. Discover huge new maps, battle new enemies, improve your mutations, get your hands on all new gear, defeat foes trying to take back lost ground and face off against a vicious new adversary.

Not yet. I am a tightwad so I usually buy games 5 years after they release.

I think I got it for free on Epic.

It's basically like After The Bomb, by Palladium Books; made as an iso3D/turn based video game. It's not bad.

But they missed the real opportunity to make the PC's custom mutants. As it is, the characters are fixed, and also the game is entirely unsupported now...afaik.

I like the game, but I ran afoul of some bug that prevents further progress.

GOG has a free demo: https://www.gog.com/game/mutant_year_zero_road_to_eden_demo

I'm always interested in this game, but then I see many people who played it say that encounters are more of a puzzle than "freeform". I would also have preferred an option of using a custom made character.

Puzzle encounters put me off games. What I want in any RPG is the ability to tackle encounters my way and not have to do them the "right" way. I don't mind if a boss has a specific way of defeating it if the rest of the game doesn't play like a puzzle, though.

What people say about the game might not even be accurate for all I know, but I just don't want to risk it. :aiee:

I played this game for like an hour and got super bored.

Just doesn't seem to be a game for me.
