Yea, the rest of the team wants to change the canon too. I jsut adjusted the RGB levels trying to make it look grey like metal, turns out I didnt do a good enough job.

So what do you guys think about having a caon in FO anyway, there's a bit of discussion going on in the team if we should keep it or not. It's susposed to be made from scrap metal etc...

Uh, I hate to repeat myself, but why not call it "Auto Shotgun" instead a "Gatling Shotgun"?

There are a few games that have a rapid fire shotgun that has a rotating barrels. They have always called the weapon as a "Auto Shotgun."

I do like the idea of primitive makeshift weapons. I don't have a problem with the concept of carrying a sort of cannon arround.

Personally I find the idea of a bunch of shotguns stuck on a rotary device pretty retarded anyway. What's the point of using shotgun shells in a minigun-esque device anyway? Except for "the cool name".

Well, that doesn't contradict my point. Calling it Auto Shotgun doesn't make a relevant difference.
Besides, I could imagine that the gatling design is an easier way to create a machinegun than the recoil or gas designs and might work better for a makeshift construction.
But then I didn't really defend the minishotgun concept in the first place.

wild_qwerty, you were enjoying the act of creation. It isn't as fun as procreation, but it can be joyful. Sometimes the result isn't something you envisioned, but no one can question your intent. Not many people work harder than you to create a new Fallout game. I don't get the sense that any of these guys really want to hurt your feelings. I believe this is the first idea of yours that has backfired. For this, and your 'never say die' attitude, I salute you!

I'd say just because you've got it don't mean you need to use it, it's that sort of thing that ends up with everything including the kitchen sink in a mod. Total sillyness. On the otherhand...

I like the idea of more improvised weapons in the game, but the cannon using the rocket launcher anim might be a little too much of the same old, why not combine it with the single shot mini-gun anim (perhaps with a little more editing) and have an improvised mortar type weapon? Or a hand held cannon designed by and for super mutants?
 
lol, I was only joking about my feeling being hurt :) But I was expecting a nicer response. But I do like other peoples ideas and feedback so maybe the gattling shoty is out.

Though I just remebered that Crusader had a multi-barreled shotgun, though I cant remeber what is was called.

I suspose I could tell you about the burst mode I gave the rocket launcher....

Anyway, we are currently looking for a different weapon that is about the same size as a minigun but can use a single shot option. I really think it's importent to make the big gun skill a just that little bit more appealing. An example of something else we done was make a knuckle duster type weapon used for kick attacks, and are working on a couple of other interesting melee weapons. A player should be able to finish the game with a complete HtH character if they want too, much the same way that a player can complete FO2 with a diplomat character and not fight anyone

What does "the same size as a minigun mean"? You could have a sniper rifle for the big gun skill, or just a rifle-like weapon which can be shot pretty fast, kinda like a plasma rifle minus plasma.
Also, it occurred to me that the Gatling Shotgun art could also work for an organ cannon.
You could treat it like a shotgun with higher range and damage.
 
Maybe some type of big gun that encorporates some attributes of other weapons? Just go nuts I say but the mini shotgun idea is pretty bad idea IMO.

Maybe a big weapon that fires an extremely large round with maximum penetration capability? A kind of poormans rocket launcher or some type of heavy dmg weapon that is available to the player a bit earlier on in the game like a makeshift harpoon.
 
lol, I remeber the feedback on that idea when a new guy in the modding forum suggested it ;)

Or we could just change the interface screen, in fact we did change it, but no one noticed that in the screen shot :(
