Ok, Fallout saw you as the vault dweller, sent from your vault into an unknown world to get a little chip thingy, fallout 2 was basically the same, but with hundreds more sub-plots and such. In my opinion Fallout 3 should NOT break this tradition. It sounds odd, but I feel that the third game in the Fallout series (and no, im not forgetting FT) should follow the same structure of the first two, ie. Save people, realise somthing worse is happening elsewhere, save people again.

Two story lines which pop into my head are:
1)You are a decendant of the vault dweller (well, you have to be dont you? :P ) You live in a small village (again) and are caught between two powerful waring factions (Reno and NCR maybe, i dunno) and in order to stop your village getting crushed between a rock and a hard place you have to try to diffuse the war, or help one side win. This offers a massive ability for different stories to happen, different sides can win, you can be a terrorist and blow up different peoples HQs, all that kind of stuff. In my fallout 3 however, the "speech" skill would actually be useful, as you should bea ble to talk your way out of sticky situations (like getting caught planting a nuke under Tandi's daughters desk or somthing :P ). After this story is over, your village elder says that somthing is happening elsewhere, like a small faction of the BOS is using its advanced tech to blackmail everyone or somthing, so you gotta go put an end to that! One thing Id like to see however, is being able to talk you way out of random encounters, like blagging a raider gang into thinking that your their bosses son or somthing :P.

2)Another story line which has immense possibility, is the idea that you could be a Made Man in New Reno (you get to chose which house maybe?) and you have to destroy all the other gangs, not al by yourself though, you can order people to atack while your not there or somthing similar. When you have taken New Reno you set your sights higher, and decide to invade Vault City or NCR.

Forgive any stupid inconsistencies with current story lines, its been too long since i played Fallout 2 (where is that disk... just one quick go....)

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Sep-02-01 AT 03:37PM (GMT)[p]If you're gonna make the main character a survivor of the apocalypse, at least don't put him in these Vaults. It's getting a bit repetitive.

Number 1 looks to be to politically to me. Two warring factions and you have to ally with one or diffuse the war. In both Fallouts, you had to get something so that your own vault/tribe could survive. Basically, it had nothing to do with other towns. Granted, during your travels to find the thing, you encounter a lot of people and some other towns who you could help or not but these didn't have anything to do with the "saving your people" concept. Not even the deathclaws in Fallout 2 can be seen as this because either you help them to get the GECK or don't but in the end the same thing happens to them.
Number 2 looks to be more strategy orientated. Your own words "you can order people to attack while you're not there". This is strategy and not RPG.
The whole idea is to set you (maybe with a couple friends, read NPC's) against the world. And frankly i haven't seen that in your statements.

The first part of the first storyline seems to be ripped of from someone, ME. I don't like that. Search for my name or "My idea for fallout 3" or something like that on the forum and you will find the original. Guess you allready did that...

The idea was hardly original in either case. I've heard this idea bounced around so many times that there's no way to determine who originally posted it or whether his post was inspired by any single post, if at all.

RE: My idead on fallout 3 that have probably already been po

yeah i like those ideas either one would be fun but it would be a little dissapointing it FO3 went off the same map...on the second idea it would be better if yew start as just like a Thug for hire and then yew accually werked yer way up in the Gang so as yer statis got higher in the gang yew get more people to control and more influice in major desions that the gang will make.... like taking out other gangs or cities and things like that.........

RE: My idead on fallout 3 that have probably already been po

Again, people, we are talking about Fallout 3 the RPG here not Fallout strategy. The things that you are talking about are allready done in Fallout tactics and look at how that worked out.
