My problem with NV

It Wandered In From the Wastes
I'm a completionist and NV is driving me nuts.

There are so many instances when you don't know you've got things to do or people to talk to ...

Example [spoiler:c341448407]knowing that you can further interact with ulysess after ending the dlc[/spoiler:c341448407]

Things like that, things you can do but you do not know they became available or even there (i'm speaking mostly of quest development and interaction)

Trying to think about or find the things you can do but don't know about is a nightmare.

How can i manage that without reading every single wiki entry about every single thing in the game and thus ruining my experience?

Oh and it would take about 3-4 tedious same-choice re-runs for me to find out about them "naturally" - a thing i can't do.

Uh huh. So... just so I'm clear... your issue with the game is that you want to do everything and don't like that you can't do it all in one playthrough and... yeah.

No matter how many re-runs i make those things i cannot do since i don't know of them, don;t get a hint to them.

I'm a completionist too, why not just pull up the wiki and look up the places as you arrive?

I always do that in my second playthrough. The first time is funnier to actually see it and be surprised.

You spoil the game majorly already by trying to play it like you would play lower quality games made by lesser skilled designers. You're playing a grand piano like you would a tickle-me-elmo playset. This isn't an action-adventure. This is a role playing game.

You can choose between different dialogue options, you can complete "(Optional)" parts of certain quests, etc...

Seriously dude, FO3 and NV are full of hints, it's always telling you what to do next and what your options are.

I'm talking about the things you don't know about , rather can't know about unless you stumble upon them by mistake.

There are a bunch of those.

I did everything there was to do in 5 playthroughs. It is possible. I don't understand why you are having a problem with it. Am I missing something? Maybe my memory is better, but I don't have to look at the wikia to find everything in this game. After a couple playthroughs you should know where everything is.

I do, but it's ruining my experience.

I spoil many things that way.

So you want to complete as much of the game as possible without spoiling anything?

One example is that you can get support from the Followers immediatly before Hover dam Battle.

How the hell should i think of that?

It would mean going to and speaking to tens of small factions like the followers.

Yes-Man actually suggests doing exactly that.

bad example then, but you get the point.

Some unmarked quests are like that (the white ncr guy with a letter in a locker , having to search 40 lockers or so in a row to find it.

You can only come by that by mistake.

Markers. Notes in your Pip-Boy. People shouting what to do at your face. This isn't rocket science.

There aren't even plenty of non-marked quests. And what's more important, you always know if you do something wrong. I remember the dragging body part, I thought I was supposed to drag it to a base nearby, so I did. It took me a while, so I realized I was doing something wrong and I turned around and dragged it back to the right place.

That's not considering you just have to pay attention, which, unluckily, I fail to do at times.

nice to see that there is finally again a Fallout game that is worth to be defended by this Community

Have you tried...idk...exploring? That is how you are meant to play the game. You are meant to explore and find things that you never realized had existed. That is the point of an open world role playing game.

I don't want to sound like a asshole here, but you have no good examples to explain your problem. Maybe you have OCD or something. The point of the game is to explore. If you can't enjoy the game because you are afraid of missing something, then maybe you are playing the wrong genre. That is what makes RPG's great.

The locker example is pretty shoddy. Do you read the dialog or skim over it? It is fairly easy to find the one locker that has the guys name on it. It took me about 3 minutes to figure that one out. You actually searched 40 lockers before finding it? Once again, sorry if I sound like a dickhead (I am one), but this is a non-issue. Enjoy the fucking game. It is meant to be enjoyed. Are you one of those guys that picks up every single thing in the game world?

Try to look at it this way:

I'm a bit of a completionist too. I'm done 100% in almost every GTA game for god's sake. But in an RPG? Let it be a part of the challenge. A good RPG never lays all of it's cards down in an obvious way. Try to enjoy it like that. Trust me, when you come back to that moment in a future playthrough and you discover something completely new, you'll feel like gold. Try to experiment, even. That's why I enjoyed Fallout 2 so much; I try different things and I got different outcomes. I know it can be hard to lie down your OCD habits, but just look at it in a different way.
