NASA plans return to the moon by 2020

The point is that we can't allow ourselves to focus on only one type of exploration, I'm saying that all exploration is important, be it exploration of Earth, exploration of the moon and planets or exploration of space in general (which I'm talking about, not the moon).

For the umpteenth time, I'm not denying this.

The problem is we're focusing on space exploration too much. It has a heroic, romantic gleam about it and people obsess. It's not good in a long-term sense, as we're running ourselves blind into a wall

Space exploration is worthwhile, but how about funnelling just a little bit of those funds into deep-sea exploration, which might offer vast and more unknown rewards*.

Oh, and Kotario, don't get me started on space tourism, I consider it a step backwards for space exploration.

Why? The important points are that it will bring both money and interest.

There is some potential in mining the moon as well; it's not as if space exploration doesn't carry rewards. Even more substantial space stations would be a benefit.
