Need Help with Fallout-themed Party

Ragemage

Wept for Zion
Right, first of all, I wasn't sure where to put this seeing as it does have to do with real life but also involves Fallout. Feel free to correct me on my placement of this discussion once you read it and I'll move it to the correct forum. Anyway:

So 2 days ago, I proposed to my girlfriend of 6 years out on the lake. She said yes, we kissed, the ring fit perfectly, etc. It was magical. But now I want to do something to celebrate our engagement. Something special.

We both absolutely love Fallout: New Vegas, it's both our favorite game in the whole franchise. So I thought, maybe we could celebrate with some sort of New Vegas style party? I wouldn't have any idea what to do for that though. That's why I've come to you guys for ideas! Help me plan a celebration with my fiance! Thanks in advance for any suggestions or ideas you can provide.

Ideas so far:

I have some empty glass bottles in storage because we recycle, so I thought of turning those into Sunset Sarsaparilla bottles like in the game and using a recipe online to create authentic versions of it.

You can find FNV posters online, print them out, and decorate your home with them.

If you have the materials you could make FNV themed costumes, also known as cosplay. Personally I would love to dawn the uniform of an NCR ranger and parade around town in it.

Maybe you could have competitions within the game of FNV? I don't know how that would work, but again its just an idea.

I may have more ideas, hope this helps!

There are all kinds of Rat Pack era Vegas decorations that fit with the theme and wouldn't be on the nose FNV, mini slot machines, poker tables, etc. Make your own version of the Wrangler. Thrift stores for clothes and have the guests create a character, assuming they are fans, and don't break character for the night. You could also go Bethesda style Fallout and shoot people when they walk through the door.

I don't have any recommendations because I'm an unimaginative scum sucking cretin, I do want to say Congratulations RageMage! I hope you two share a happy life.

For what it's worth, the "Atomic Cocktail" is a real drink from the 1950s. Named in honor of the nuclear testing site 50 miles away from Las Vegas's Virginia’s Café (later renamed "Atomic Liquors"). It's on Fremont street so it might have been one of the inspirations that went into the creation of the Atomic Wrangler.

If you want to make one, here's how:

Ingredients-
1.5 oz Vodka
1.5 oz French Cognac or Spanish Brandy
1 tsp Amontillado or Oloroso sherry
1.5-2 oz Brut Champagne

Stir the vodka, cognac, and sherry together over cracked ice, strain into a chilled glass and top with the champagne. Garnish with a twist of orange zest.

(if you use the sweeter spanish brandy, opt for the dryer amontillado, and if you use the dryer French cognac opt for the sweeter Oloroso).

Handle with care, it packs a punch.

I don't drink at all, I can't stand the taste or the thought of getting drunk, but she can carry her alchohol. I might try making this for her. Thanks!

Oh you.

Oh you x 2.

Not sure how I'd put that on the tele, but I do have an old 1990s computer I might be able to pull his face up on. Good idea! Same for the soundtrack.

Haha, I plan on this party being just me and her. So I guess you could say we already went full Bethesda and retconned most of the well written characters. The whole rat-pack theme might be a good idea. I'll have to look into that. I live in rural Mississippi so I'll probably have to order it online.

Thanks Izak! I hope we'll have a happy life together too. I've loved her a really long time, I don't see myself stopping. Hell, we've been dating since before I started high school. I'm 20 now. Most relationships nowadays don't even last a couple of months.
