Iron Tower Studio, the makers of Age of Decadence, released a new gameplay video:

To quote Oscar, AoD's Graphic-dude from the AoD forum:

It took us awhile but we've finally managed to put together a gameplay video from photoshopped screenshots (flip animation FTW).

The video shows the second Assassins Guild's quest, the game flow, a night map, fire particles for the easily amused, the PC fighting with allies (just because you don't have an entourage of emotionally scarred people with troubled past doesn't mean you have to save the world all by your awesome self), and an optional third-person view.

Not bad at all. Turned based battles don't look very amusing though, unlike in Fallout or Silent Storm or the Xcom\Ufo series for example.

No emotionally scarred allies? What is this, Fallout or Arcanum?

Looks ugly and uninteresting. (in my humble opinion)

I find it beuatiful and like the whole art direction of it. The combat demo was already huge fun.

Don't know, Medieval settings bore the shit out of me, except for Plain scape torment, I hated the LOTR movies and books.

Not everything with swords with it is medieval. Planescape is set in the forgotten realms planes, where you travel to fantastical locations with absolutely no correlation to medieval times, and AoD is set in a fantasy world inspired by the Roman times.

I pretty much hate everything medieval and fantasy. It's why I like RPG as a genre but hate most of the games - the fantasy setting with orcs, elfs and other magic shit is a letdown. I did play Oblivion for a while, mostly because it was simple and stupid fun with decent side quests, but even the so-called freedom wasn't enough to keep me interested.

Hmm that explains why I didn't hate it.

I would call it a pretty stupid move to dismiss a whole game just because there are swords or medieval elements in it. But oh well, to each his own. ;)

Not like I dismiss it those games, but the setting just kills any real interest in it. So far anyway, maybe I should try again, maybe Dragon Age or something.

Is just that medieval settings are so overused, just like space operas, the visual style of those settings is always the same thing, I got bored of medieval settings, I mean most people I try to talk to about rpgs and desinging a posible game all they can think about is doing the same tired old shit, all is elves, hobbits and tresures and wizards with a battle of swords at the end. It just bores me.

Except AoD has no elves, hobbits, long lost treasures nor fireball slinging wizards. The most prized treasure is knowledge, not a +10 sword of awesomeness. It's a post-apocalyptic "roman-like" world, filled with factions struggling to control the remnants of the old empire.

"The Age of Decadence is an isometric, turn-based, single-player 3D role-playing game set in a low magic, post-apocalyptic fantasy world, inspired by the fall of the Roman Empire. The game features a detailed skill-based character system, non-linear gameplay, multiple skill-based ways to handle quests, choices & consequences, and extensive dialogue trees."

We were talking that setting in general. And I approve what you guys are doing, classic rpg ideas and all that.
