New Baldur's Gate Game

I really don't see the need for this when something like "Baldur's Gate Trilogy" exists. Don't plan on buying it.

It's kind of sad to me though. This really feels like Bioware saying: "Look at this! We didn't always suck! Remember when we made awesome, industry shifting games?"

Unfortunately some problems with items, persistent journal entries, infinite money exploit still exist. Also, you cannot alter the framerate like in original, you can zoom though. At it's current state it is not worth $20 IMO.

I do love Baldur's Gate, but this feels just like a bunch of modders sprucing up a game that's been spruced up many times since its release...and asking us to pay for it. A miss for me.

From looking at the bug page on the BG:EE forum it looks like this release is not going well and if the Mac and tabloid release are anything like it then Beamdog are going to have a LOT on their plates.

This enhanced edition was supposed to be a mega patch that would fix all the bugs are deliver a stable game with new content and UI. It seems to have introduces tons of new bugs that weren't in the original vanilla release somehow.

I'm just going to sit it out for a month or two until its more stable.

The only big "bug" I'm seeing is the game running slowly on Intel's integrated GPUs. Really, that's more of an issue with Intel's crap graphics drivers and their lack of OpenGL support. Granted, the team should have figured out the issue sooner and found some way around considering the large number of PCs running with Intel GPUs nowadays. But, not an issue for me; I'd never submit to an Intel GPU since, regardless of the advances making the HD3000/HD4000 somewhat acceptable as far as integrated graphics goes, their driver support is absolute crap and that situation is unlikely to ever change.

Otherwise, there are a few other bugs but they're already rolling out patches so most of them will likely be resolved fairly soon.

Well thanks for the vote of confidence!
Honestly I don't see reason to hate on this so much. Esp. if patches are rolling out. $20 is reasonable for a complete package without extras. Did we forget this is one of the most beloved PC RPGS of all time? Clocking in over 100 hours of gameplay per playthrough? Patching/Tutu-ing your vanilla BG/II installs is a process especially for a newbie.

It's without a doubt the best possible way to play the original Baldur's Gate. As I haven't replayed BG for over half a decade now I can honestly say I almost forgot how much I liked this game. Truly, RPG at its best.

If you've been living under a rock for the last 14 years and never played Baldur's Gate: go for it, you won't be disappointed!

Really?

Ehm, that's a 2-5 hour process with 9 steps (and more, because most of those installs take multiple steps). Yes, that is quite a process, one that a lot of people will not be willing to go through. Especially those who do not know much about computers and just install software and run it.

Some people may find having all that done for them to be worth $20.

Not to mention you make more then 20$ during those 2-5 hours if you work instead of install software :P .

It looks good, so I'll get it once the bugs have been sorted out. Anyone knows if its gonna work on first generation iPads (t'was a gift, don't judge).

meh, I think it's awesome so far. the simple improvements like zooming and better UI are well worth it. haven't seen much new content yet, but I did find a new weapon in a spot I never found anything before. so I'm guessing there's some new loot around. definitely excited to play good ol' BG in a new light.

Well, there's also BGT, which pretty much self-installs IIRC.

None of this fixes the "this game is boring me to death" issue, unfortunately. *runs out of the thread and shuts the door*
