Ok, heres my new characther idea.
Post ideas for the characther and what weapons I suggested that you do/dont like

A vault dweller that was kicked from vault 76 for expousing ideas of leaving to see the outside world and mainly shacking up with the overseers daughter. Maybe have her as a second characther NPC that snuck out after him or mybe just have him only

He'll have a 9 mm pistol with 2-4 mags and a first aid kit some radx/radaway and a geigetr counter

maybe a laser pistol with1-3 mags, but he'll run outta ammo soon if he doesnt find more

also, maybe some kind of armour or something

Either wait til the next chapter, or have him meetup with caleb while traveling. Or maybe something else, post ideas.

Okay, here are my comments:

1)Drop the laser pistol, for as far as I've seen, no Vault actually had those.

2)I think it's a bit cliche, the Vault Dweller being kicked out because he wanted to see the outside world. Although it isn't actually a problem, I'd love to see something else there.

3) If you can, try to fit one of the paranoia social experiment vault thingies into it.

4) Give your character a bit of depth. Say what he likes, what he doesn't like, what he's good at etc. Oh, and please try to give him complete ignorance and bigotry about the world around him(Such as being absolutely freaked out by Super mutants)

Ok sander

1- the laser pistol was a maybe, as in I just wanted to see peole thought. Unless others say keep it, it ends here

2-I know, but it's a cliche that can fit in, and its my fav kind of cahracther, some1 that doesnt know what happend

3-I'll try, good idea.

4-He'll be scared at first, but one told what they are he'll view them as mutated humans, same with ghouls. No hatred, just pity/smpithy.

Ok, unless people disagree with sander he'll have a 9 mm pistol with 2-4 mags and a first aid kit some radx/radaway and a geigetr counter

what about armour ? I remember reading someware that SOME vaults had a few combat armours. Or maybe he could have traded knowledge for armour ? Tell me what Y'all think will fit in best.

I would say no cool armour for a vault dweller. I doubt the vault would let him take a suit with him.

He might have got hold of a low level suit by now, say some leather armour.

The key the vault dweller is starting low and building up, just like in the game. There are some cool characters in this RP that your character can learn from as he developes if he joins the group.

Remember Sander's advice about depth. Don't just think about 'vault dweller', think in terms of your character as a person. Appearance, temperament, feelings thoughts etc. Not just he has a gun and so many bullets.

This character could be really good but you have to make them a person not just a cardboard cutout.

Ok, he was part of the vaults security unit, and while he did want to exploe the outside world, what got him kicked was exploring the overseer's daughter 8) . He's skilled in prewar tech, to a point, and is decent with small weapons but never had combat.

Here's my crack at a character, keep in mind that it's subject to change, based on any advice given.

*Ahem*

Name: Maverick, Jackson
Gender: Male
Age: 36
Race: Human
Place of Birth: Unknown
Current Location: Trapped within Gray Cliffs, with a merchant party he was hired to guard (a different party, not the Lone Wanderers).
Occupation: Odd Jobs, but was hired to guard a merchant party in Gray Cliffs
-
Height: 6'1
Weight: 193 lbs
Physical Description Jack is a darkly tanned Caucasian, with a medium muscular build. He has very little fat on him, most going towards muscles. He is fast running, but due to his bulk, not very agile. He has dusty blonde hair (in a natural spike), silver-ish eyes, but otherwise has no outstanding features.
-
Psychological Description: Jack is a very light-hearted person, with a laid-back look on life. He realizes the value of hard work, however, and prides himself at being good at whatever he’s hired to do. When something serious happens (a gunfight, maybe) Jack stops cracking bad jokes and does what he’s told, or attempts to formulate a plan. Very rarely does he give up or surrender in anything meaning he is very stubborn.
-
Clothes Jack has the whole “Wasteland Warrior” thing going. He wears a black t-shirt (over which he wears a set of leather armor), and (jungle) camouflaged pants, with a WW2-era British trechcoat and army regulation boots, salvaged from a prewar Army Surplus Store in old-Dallas.

Inventory: Jack carries an assortment of backpacks and supply-belts, holding various equipment, the most important being water, rations, and ammunition.

Weapons: An Kalashnikov AK-47 (slung over the shoulder and plenty of magazines), SIG Sauer P226 (.40 Cal Variant) (in a hip holster), and a Mac 10 (jammed in his belt).

Maverick, I see no problems with your character. He'll fit in. Right now, I'd suggest that you wait for Chapter 3 to end (maybe a few weeks) and Chapter 4 to start. Give me a personal message and we'll work out how he is going to be implemented into the story.

PsychoSniper, no more references to Fallout's world and storyline. Lone Wanderer's takes place in an alternate post-nuclear world that retains some of the creatures and weapons but none of the organization. For the sake of not having characters appear out of nowhere, the vaults in this world have either been already evacuated or destroyed after the war.

Most people who have started the RPG in Chapter Three have opted to become mercenaries. Smar is the only difference, but he's an exception that has been accepted after compromise. Mercenaries have a motive to join the caravan, they get paid to fight. But a Vault Dweller joining the group just doesn't make sense. Why is he here and why would he want to join? Remember, the other players don't really know the deeper plot of Lone Wanderers except Grim, Caleb, Rogue, Reaper, and Jacin. The rest may have some ideas but they're just willing to fight.

Here's a suggestion: make him a mercenary. That's the simplest way to include your character. You're character doesn't need to have affiliations. Have him wield a pistol or a semi-automatic rifle. NO laser weapons. Armor isn't necessary, but if you want it, a jacket of treated leather would suffice. This is just a suggestion. I'd think that you could have made a character of you own without suggestions (like Maverick did since he took the time to read up something of what the characters should be) but I don't want a repeat of the Marine character.

I REPEAT: I don't want to see another Marine character. I don't want to have someone that has subdermal armor or a targeting eye module or rockets that sprout out of his arm. How about you make this character a man? A lot of the other players have ridiculed you (understandably) and you've gotten off on the wrong foot with them just because of that.

So make a post of your character in the format that Maverick has made.

Here's my crack at a character, keep in mind that it's subject to change, based on any advice given.

Name: Talon Kardee
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Race: Human
Place of Birth: Vault 76
Current Location: Unknown, will join the story soon.
Occupation: Only recently left the Vault, has not been to any city yet
-
Height: 5'3
Weight: 203 lbs
Physical A short but strong guy in a blue vault suit. While short, he is strong and can shoot well, as he was on the vaults security team.
-
Psychological Description: Very stubborn and intelligent, he was Vault 76's top investigator for crimes. If someone hacked/stole your pipboy you would request him for the case. He was officaly kicked from the vault for being to public about wanting to know what is outside the vault, the unoffical and true reason was humping the overseers daughter. He has yet to see any mutants or ghouls, but once the shock wears off, he will treat them like regular humans.
-
Clothes : He's wearing a vault suit with a large 76 on the back. He also has a gun belt and a bandolier for ammo/nades as well as a backpack..

Inventory: he has vault issue field rations, water containers (complete with the number 76 on the side), radX and rad away as well as a small pup tent. He also has a pipboy.

Weapons: One 9mm pistol with several clips, 4 plasma nades in the bandolier (he found them on a corpse) and a M-21 with 40 rounds (2 mags) of 7.76 mm ammo.
(he wasnt supposed to get the M-21, but some friends from security added it on the sly)

(Maybe dump the M-21, or barter it away for armour)

Ok PS- I was going to say fine with the Vault relationship to be accommodating, but I see what Gunslinger is saying and agree. We need to have more seperation from the Fallout universe, and making him a mercenary isn't such a bad idea.

Possible- go back to the first page of the OCC and look at Fang's World. Pick a place and build your character around that. Perhaps he was a member of a powerful leader in Red Waters, got caught humping the bosses daughter and had to leave with a contract on his head. Not much of a change, but it would work.

Also drop the grenades.

Maverick, I like the character. Good job.

Gunslinger- you sure you can't get him started in Grey Cliffs perhaps dealing with the Blades there. It would seem a shame to have Maverick wait a few weeks.

If so, Maverick, you can pick up on an NPC with the caravan in the meantime. We have plenty to go around and there are some that we have yet to name. This way you would be into the roleplay now instead of having to wait a few weeks.

I'll work Maverick in if he really wants to be a Blade. Maverick, if you'd rather be a Blade rather than a mercenary, I can incorporate you into the Blade's upcoming assault against the Legion outpost.

K, as of now the nades are droped.

But I want to keep the vault dweller part if possible.
I just like the situations that you can cause with someone that in compleatley unaware of his world.

Good pick Syphon. Sorry PS- might be confusing having two characters with the same name. How about something else?

As I said in my PM, Gunslinger, I'd rather my character just be a mercenary in Grey Falls. Maybe he could get recruited by the Blades or sumthin'. Otherwise, I can wait until you guys finish.

I see what you mean syphon, oops.

ok, I'll think of a new name for him if others also want me to, otherwise they could just call my guy by his last name. Afterall, it makes sense for at least one instance of a repeated name.

That's fine, but there are other suggested changes that have been mentioned. Have you considered them?
