new Dead movie

That was a genetically engineered virus. They probably engineered it so it would work on other creatures aswell.

THat's easy.

Resident Evil was a bad movie and the disease is something different.

Different disease, different effects.

I have no idea what the hell caused the disease in Evil Dead. Biological warfare and a pissed off computer?

I do recall that the Zombies from Romero have something to do with a satellite falling from teh sky. 28 Days later had to do with Rage.

You need to be careful- Just because it looks and acts like a zombie doesn't mean it is.

For example, the Evil Dead are more likely demon possessed ghouls caused by some Lovecraftian/Cthulhu type curse.

Close but not quite Romero zombies were the zombies from Return of the Living Dead (a crappy rip-off) which were due to some government biological weapon.

ZOmbies in Half Life had more to do with people getting overwhelmed by those little crawling things from another dimension (but in that case one bite did not infect you).

The Borg- or zombies in outer space- where due to nanotechnology (I think).

Romero zombies have always been people.

Make sure you keep your fiction consistent. Just because the consequence all looks like a zombie, doesn't mean the cause is the same.

Actually they were just about as far from Romero zombies as you will find in any movie. They ran, they spoke and they only ate human brains. That being said, I don't think Return of the Living Dead was a bad movie. Actually it's the best non-Romero zombie flick I've seen (I particularly like the ending :)9, although I'll admit that number 2 and 3 sucked immensely.

Btw, I've never seen zombies attack animals in any zombie flick, so I guess that zombies only want to eat human beings and that animals only become undead when the virus (or poison, or whatever) is airborne.

Do you think there will ever be an outbreak of zombies/things similar to zombies?

What caused the zombie outbreak? Was it indeed hell being overfull, and perhaps the zombie plague was a way of God cracking out a can of whoop ass on the entire human race.

Or something that leaked from the government and well, spiraled out of control.

Return of the Living Dead 2 was a masterpeice of shitty movies.

'He's entered a state of rigid mortis, I am afraid.:
"Is it serious doctor?"

Welsh, the Zombies from Braindead are real zombies though, right?

In the original Night of The Living Dead, didn't they say that it was solar radiation or something?

Radiation from a deep space probe coming in on that day. Referance to it in the beggining of Shaun of the Dad.

Might just be little old theistic me, but I always interperated it as a kind of strike from god, with the probe being a Zues like strike against humanity for it's sins. Or maybe just bad science.

Was it the third Return of the Living Dead where the guy's girlfriend died, and became a zombie, and ended up sticking railroad spikes in her skin?

That movie was hilarious.

Yes, I remember the scene with the croc. Never quite figured that out.

They are in Florida. The Alligator or Crocodile is very important to drive home the fact that they are in Florida. Or Louisiana.

It's never made clear. There is a reference to solar radiation, and some speculation to a "UFO" that was "spotted," but there's no solid explanation for the outbreak.

Same with Shaun of the Dead. During the duration of the film, a lot of theories (mostly from other movies - solar radiation, the Rage virus, UFOs, toxins, chemical spills) are mentioned, but it's never explained. An homage to Night of the Living Dead.

Also, Shaun works at Foree Electronics. Ken Foree was the actor who starred in the original Dawn of the Dead.

Shaun of the Dead rules.
