New Fallout 1 Hi-Res Main Menu Screens.

The reason I made the new F1 main screens is because I actually prefer the red box look over the whitish version, but that's just me. Also I wanted a larger, clearer image, so I masked the head in Photoshop and added a background from Interplays website. The Power armor doesn't have the same angle as the original, but I can live with it. The only thing missing is the torn postcard look, I can fix that later.

Isn't it beautiful - best box ever...

I agree, I've always loved the look of the box.

I also like the red font title as well, but you'll see that in my sig banner soon enough (once I make the banner)

Where on the IP site did you get it from, do you remember? Is it the same photo as used for the Necropolis slide ending image? I think it's the same.

Is the pixelation on top just a side-effect of converting to GIF? For some reason I've never been able to open hi-res RIX in Titanium so I can't confirm.

No idea if it is beautiful, because you only linked the thumbnail image, which is smaller on my screen than my thumb. :>

That is very nice, Lavo.

Are you willing to share the source? (i.e. the image of just the armor that you pulled off, assumedly in Photoshop)

If so, that would be most excellent :)

Thanks :)

I took it from GOG.com.
They give some freebee stuff if you buy the game (wallpapers, Fallout Bible pdf etc.)

I cropped the PA from this picture:

As for the background, I just googled "Fallout Cityscape" or something like that. Some of them are from Fallout3, I think.

I'm also working on making original loading screens into higher resolutions. For now I've just made this one:

And found these on the internet:

http://www.1zoom.net/Games/wallpaper/165173/z499/&original=1

And ofcourse you can use all of these if you want. You don't have to ask.

Are these menu screens found in the Restopatch beta?

The blue one is used, but in the resolution patch built by Mash - that patch comes with Restoration Project.

This isn't the most attractive looking menu screen, the original will always be the best, but there is now a reddish version, check the first post on this thread for details.

Yeah. I really love the original, specially with the red sky.

I use the one in FIXT, Red version.

I like yours because it shows a big part of the Armor and a big part of the city.

Personally I've always loved the tribal power armor helmet from Fallout 2, but it would never work for the original because:

1) It clearly shows the oil rig,

2) I don't find it likely that someone would simply stumble upon a severely damaged power armor helmet in a time when the Brotherhood was alive and well.

Sorry for posting in a thread so old, but I tried using the new images that .Pixote. created (Fallout 2), but after following the instructions, the menu didn't change.
I have killap's Restoration Project installed (latest version), which already comes with high resolution patch.
Anyone knows how to fix this?

@Zaius238
Rename the custom frm you're trying to install to HR_MAINMENU.FRM. It will change now.
Cheers
Thanks for the answer.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I tried placing the file in two folders (Fallout2/f2_res/intrface and Fallou2/data/art/intrface). Nothing happened.

Funny how I tried contacting Mash and .Pixote. , but they never replied. Proves that they don't give a damn.
Seriously, I can't be the only one with this problem, and I doubt no one here knows how to do this.
Please just give me a hand.

They work fine on my spec for FO2 RP. I'd suggest to check the INI settings, like f2_res_patches or [MAINMENU] section.

Hugs Zaius238...It seems the latest RP has the high res built into the game. When I first made this you needed to download and install it separately, and in doing so it made the folders you needed to drop the files into. They seem to all be wrapped up into a DAT file now, so I don't know how to get around it.

Mash is the man to message.

Peace baby.
