It may not be a standard form of argument (most, I expect, are a lot like the one man of you have participated in here), but I think it probably works best when people listen to the opposing side's position, then try and disprove the basis of that position.

Instead of trying to end them with comments like shut the fuck up, or by heavily relying on the fallacy of appeal to authority, I'd advise you to concentrate more on the actual opposing position, rather than the person holding it.

The BigL may or may not be an idiot, but either way it doesn't make what he says automatically wrong or right. I found it especially ironic that the Straw man keeps surfacing, when you have effectively set poor hapless BigL up as just as much a Straw man as he ever picked out of your posts.

So, yeah. All I'm saying is, this has become an excessively nasty argument, mostly due to what seems to be a generally confrontational air in this forum. I mean, look at your post at the top of this page (7)--you go pretty far in order to protect your bad-boy image on a computer game forum. BigL, I learned a lot in the past couple of weeks, (TOTAL newbie I know). But the first rule I learned was NEVER fuck with someone who has admin, board cop, moderator, or anything with five icons in their name. Those are the guys who help run this nut house and should be treated with respect. If you are going to disagree with them, you should do so in a more calm way.

And why flame someone, anyways, seems absurd to call someone a dork over the internet. Because I wouldn't be posting here if I wasn't.
