New Gamers Suck

yrogerg

First time out of the vault
I am a 22 year old gamer with 15 years of experience. I played anything from Battlefield 1942 to GTA Vice City.
I know that there are many definitions of "fun" but there is only one "true" fun. When you laugh and/or have a good time. This was the purpose of a game, originally, and it was developed in many different ways. Nowadays people mix "fun" with interest, fear but most importantly, and sadly, with seriousness. A game initially was made, like football (or soccer for USA) and yes this is a game too, to make a band of people join together and make them have genuine fun.
Genuine fun is when you laugh and have a good time by making jokes and chat your daily stuff while playing a game. One of the main reasons that things go completely wrong was Tournaments, aka seriousness. You lost the meaning of the game (as a term) completely when you become all serious and just want to complete the game with perfect scores, no deaths, etc. But most importantly gamers are called no lifers because exactly what these two words mean "You have no life". Gamers nowadays just want to complete a game and "enjoy" some time, escape reality, because they have miserable life, such bs.
Gamers just lost the concept of a game completely. There is more than just playing the game. Each game has story, history (in many but not all cases), looking for secrets (come on who didn't grin because he/she found a treasure/out of the game thing for no reason), game mechanics and various other than COMPLETING THE GAME. That's not a reason to play a game. Unfortunately we, as gamers, don't thing as such. Actually we don't think at all. In many cases, many of you must have played games such as CS:GO, games have no reason or gives you any purpose to play the game. You just go in and shoot everyone for no reason.
All these being said, not all games are the same. Some have different purpose of existence. CS:GO for example simply wants you to protect a location from the terrorists and vise versa. But most games have, but the gamers don't see is that the games don't force you to play the game as the developers ask you. That's by actually putting your little touch on the game by interacting with it. Troll a bit, say something but the thing is you don't. Either you cant (developers' stupid idea) or you just don't have the guts to do so. That's where modders and youtube channels come in.
Modders just add things that was not present in the game in the beginning and youtube channels by commenting/explaining the game. Why are so dumb as to listen what other people say about it and not have our own opinion about it? The thing is, and its the most troublesome of all, that we cant express that opinion we have because no one will give a damn about it. That's wrong. And that's another reason why we are called no lifers.
Internet is one of man's greatest inventions and yet we, our generation, don't use it at all. Many older, than myself, people will use the internet to do more things than just view porn or watch the latest news. Another reason why gamers are called no lifers is because we don't get out of our home (myself excluded, I'm not there yet). Why? Because we are antisocial cowards that don't have the guts to speak with a neighbor or the grocer.
How to fix that? By playing multiplayer games. Yeah you would say that there are kids and people in general that take multiplayer games seriously. If you do think that then start reading again from the beginning. The last thing I am going to say about this is that no one will care what I say, or anyone else for that matter. Why? Because nobody cares. (And I lack publicity).
Say your opinions, even if that's three or four words. All gamers should have and must have an opinion in this.

PS English is not my first language so forgive any mistakes. Also writing essays is not my thing.

Dude, paragraphs, for the love of god you gotta hit the "enter" key when writing a wall of text. So, yeah, TLDR. I'll respond to the title tho'.

Anyway, new games can't suck, just look at how much profit they're making! The sales would beg to differ!

Well, it's 11AM in sweden and I haven't slept all night so I think the east coast of USA is 7 hours behind, that's 4AM, west coast is probably at 1AM or something.

So, it's late for some, too early for others.

Considering the words "Making the game available to a broader audience" and "Streamlining/Mainstreaming the game" are pretty much a death knell for a video game series nowadays, you're not wrong. Making things more available to the ever growing casual gaming market is what murdered Bethesda.

I just hope Nintendo and Obsidian never fall to catering to the casuals. The guy who's making Tyranny, Obsidian's latest romp, mentioned making the game more "streamlined" when it came to mechanics carried over from PoE, and that has me worried. I trust Obsidian though. I don't think they'd let me down. I've yet to see a bad game from them. Though the folks over at RPG Codex would disagree with me on that.

Well, some might say Nintendo is all about casual gaming, but their games have always had a very special spark that keeps them appealing. I could go play Legend of Zelda Wind Waker right now and still get all the love and enjoyment I got out of it back in 2004. I suppose what I mean is I hope they don't dull their games like Bethesda did in order to try and appeal to the more "mature" COD crowd.

PoE was streamlined enough as it is, too streamlined I'd say. Streamlining that system more just sounds like bad news.

That's what everyone over at the Codex is saying, however since PoE is really the first DnD style game I've played besides, I suppose, Dragon Age Origins, I don't really have another point of reference to compare it to, thus I like PoE's gameplay/combat.

Its not about the "Streamers". Its about the average guy who just want to play and have an opinion for it. That being said, its true that over streaming a game makes it more....vulnerable, one may say. But everyone should have an opinion for any game.

Everytime I see a topic like this, I think of the difference in reaction between Fallout and Metal Gear fans over Witcher 3 winning Game of the Year.
The Metal Gear fans were generally happy CD Project won it while the Bethtards were crying their precious Fallout 4 didn't win anything.
Oh well.

On a side, can someone forgive me for using the phrase Godd Howard in an unironic context, once upon atime I used it and I realise I have sinned.

Personally I don't think you sinned. You stated your opinion and that's it. Also, this topic isn't about the games or what gamers think about it, its about what gamers themselves.

.. can someone forgive me for using the phrase Godd Howard in an unironic context, once upon atime I used it and I realise I have sinned.
Nope, I can't. Such a great sin can be cleansed only by the coulourless flame of Holy Atom! :nuclear:

I read your post three times, but i'm not sure i understand what you are trying to say. These were the main parts that i got lost in:

"Gamers nowadays just want to complete a game and "enjoy" some time (what do you mean by "enjoy some time?") because they have miserable life, such bs."

"There is more than just playing the game. Story, history (in many but not all cases), looking for secrets (come on who didn't grin because he/she found a treasure/out of the game thing for no reason), game mechanics and various other than COMPLETING THE GAME (this middle sentence does not make sense, it's a series of disconnected statements). That's not a reason to play a game."

"But what most games not miss but the gamers themselves don't find/see/understand is that the games don't force you to play the game as the developers ask you. (you have two negatives with a 'but'. Did you mean - 'what most games have, but the gamers don't see' ?)"

"Modders just add things that was not present in the game in the beginning and youtube channels by commenting/explaining the game. Why are so dumb as to listen what other people say (to listen to modders, or youtube channels?) about it and not have our own opinion about it?"

"The thing is, and its the most troublesome of all, that we cant express that opinion we have because no one will give a damn about it. (are you trying to say that the developers will not care about your opinion, or generally everyone?)"

"Internet is one of man's greatest inventions and yet we don't use it at all. Many older, than myself, people will use the internet to do more things than just view porn or watch the latest news. (the twho bolded statements are in opposition to each other, unless by "we", you meant people from your generation)"

"Another reason why we are called no lifers is because we don't get out of our home (myself excluded, I'm not there yet). Why? Because we are antisocial cowards that don't have the guts to speak with a neighbor or the grocer. ("we" implies yourself too and who is "we" anyway?)"

"Yeah you would say that there are kids and people in general that take multiplayer games seriously. If you do think that then start reading again from the beginning. (but that's what you claim in the beginning - that people take multiplayer games too seriously)"

I think you are often writing out your ideas as you see it in your head (i sometimes do it too), but what happens, is that you leave a lot of holes and lack clarification in critical parts. Try not to leave as many parts of your text to interpretation.

Escape reality and have fun.

"There is more than just playing the game. I am talking about the game itself. Its story and the history of its universe

"But what most games not miss but the gamers themselves don't find/see/understand is that the games don't force you to play the game as the developers ask you. (you have two negatives with a 'but'. Did you mean - 'what most games have, but the gamers don't see' ?)"

Yes, you are right.

"Modders just add things that was not present in the game in the beginning and youtube channels by commenting/explaining the game. Why are so dumb as to listen what other people say (to listen to modders, or youtube channels?) about it and not have our own opinion about it?"

Both. I am asking why the gamer himself isn't saying his/her opinion. Be active not passive. Many cant make a mod, at least they can say it.

"The thing is, and its the most troublesome of all, that we cant express that opinion we have because no one will give a damn about it. (are you trying to say that the developers will not care about your opinion, or generally everyone?)"

Generally.

"Internet is one of man's greatest inventions and yet we don't use it at all. Many older, than myself, people will use the internet to do more things than just view porn or watch the latest news. (the twho bolded statements are in opposition to each other, unless by "we", you meant people from your generation)"

Yes.

Gamers

"Yeah you would say that there are kids and people in general that take multiplayer games seriously. If you do think that then start reading again from the beginning. (but that's what you claim in the beginning - that people take multiplayer games too seriously)"

They shouldn't. Games are supposed to entertain you.

I understand that, but if you want more people to join the discussion, making your point clear will really help you.

Didn't read the entire thing. Wall of text. And when I got to your "true" definition of fun I realized it'd be pointless to read further.

You have no idea what other people consider fun.

While I agree people take games a bit too seriously nowdays, I don't think it's fair to say "New Gamers Suck" I mean, I seriously doubt all new gamers play games only to burn time. I'd elaborate on this but my battery is dying.
