No, considering the fact that the oil companies want money, and you also consume a lot more oil. :P

Britain does the same thing with the North Sea oil (I think, I'm sure it did at one point, but don't know about now), the reason being that all our refineries are kitted out for imported oil, and they think it would be too expensive to switch.

Prices are still rising. It's now $42 a barrel. When will it end?
Not too high, or we'll start too invest more in alternative fuels. And the oil giants would not want that.

I think they main reason why they do it, is because it's way smarter to use the foreign oil first... if there's nothing left outside of the us, well... some people are going to make a helluvalot mone, if you get my point

Not really, I think they export the oil thast the US does "produce" and import foreign oil. I may well be mistaken tho'.

Yes.

This is done in many industries in the West, including agriculture. Most of the food that the EU produces is exported, then to import food from other places.

Makes sense? No? Well, you create a lot of "ghost jobs" by inflating the industry that way. Stupid? Yes. But hey, I didn't make it up

Hm, concerning those exports/imports, aren't some types of food exported whilst others are imported?

Of course. But the fact is we *can* grow everything here, we just don't

It's typical EU lawgiving. The farmers get huge amounts of government funding, after which we import food from overseas. The "surplus" created by the combo of unnecessary funding and food importing is dumped at low prices in Africa, preventing their food industry from growing properly.

Yay for us.
