First time out of the vault
im new to fallout 4 played and beat all the others yes even ps2 one ill have alot of questions if it ok if i ask them here? ill be getting it soon

Go ahead and ask all the questions you want, but let me just tell you one thing, don't buy Fallout 4. It's not even worth buying to see how bad it is.

Unless you like killing endless amounts of enemies with some of the worst writing and cringeworthy dialogue ever seen in a game it would be best to avoid this game at all costs. It's basically "KILL, LOOT, RETURN" that's the whole game! It makes you regret purchasing it in the first place especially with their DLC plan which consists of selling two paid mods that'll probably suck in comparison to the mod from New Vegas while delaying the release of the creation kit so people will get impatient then buy them when a mod using the creation kit could do it better and be free and in the process maximize profits. There is Far Harbor but that could turn out to be quantity over quality for all we know.

I suppose it might be worth playing used, with all released content at around 20 bucks? It's fun to explore and shoot things, but then quickly gets dull and boring. The current price of 90 bucks for all content, soon to increase to 110 just isn't worth it. It's a real mess of a game, doing a few things well, while dropping the ball on so many other things. I love much of the art direction, the OST is decent enough, but the meat of the game is very lacking, or downright awful.

If you want to play Fallout 4 just look up the soundtrack on youtube and play any of the Call of Duty games from the past few years.
That's a bit harsh don't you think?

I'm sure Call of Duty fans would be utterly offended to see you comparing their well designed series to Fallout 4.

If you're looking for a decent "Action" RPG, go with the Witcher series - hell read the books even, they're fantastic.

If you want classic, choice-consequence, and/or strategy in your RPG, like in Fallout, you're not going to find that in Fallout 4.

On the otherhand, if you're looking to play a less humorous Borderlands game, with a Fallout skin, with plenty of Kill-Loot-Return, Fallout 4 is that to a Tee.

Well this is a grumpy thread.
With the exception of The Witcher 3 which has a stronger story (and particularly side content)
Fallout 4 is the most enjoyable game I've played in the last 12 months.

Seems likely that if the OP enjoyed other entries in the series, they will enjoy this one.
I hope they will ask any questions if they have them.

You should try playing a few more games if Fallout 4 was the most enjoyable game you've played in the last year. That's like saying that the best movie you saw last year was the Cobbler or Mortdecai.

I did say it was probably the second most enjoyable.

I enjoyed AC Syndicate enough, but FO4's world was just more fun.
Tomb Raider was good, but brutally short.
MGSV was entertaining, but the second act fell apart.
Alien Isolation was good but ultimately repetitive.

I have no interest in 1st person shooters, 3rd person action/rpg/shooters are my favourite.
If there are better games in that category that I missed, I'd love to give them a try.

I personally enjoyed MGSV a lot more, but to each their own. I can't really think of other games made last year in that sort of category that I liked very much (maybe Dying Light). But the way you phrased it before sounded like it was out of all the games you played last year, not that was made. There are loads of older games that you could try out as well (hinthint Fallout 1).

For sure I would try Fallout 1. If it came to Mac OS as Baldur's Gate did I would.

I admit (not wishing to divert the thread but hey) that i now struggle with older games that may have better stories but are just so janky to play.

I recall with deep fondness Morrowind and KOTOR, but I can't recapture the feeling I had viewing those games now when I see the dated animations/graphics.

If you want to know what mods you should download for Fallout 4, it comes with one really useful that will certainly improve drastically your gaming experience, it's called "Uninstal.exe".

Download or login (whatever) to PaulTheTall's Mac OS wrapper. There are wrappers for Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics.
