New Vegas: Blood Ties

Tom grinned at Yasmin, "Trust me, I wouldn't of touched you even before the Nevest debacle, I ain't no newcomer".

Tom, smiled then looked back towards Yasmin, "Have you tried radroach yet?", Tom chuckled at the reference to the first night of their expedition.

"Well if possible I'd like to see exactly where we're going, but if you're gonna go psycho-bitch on me for getting too close I'll keep my distance." Jacob said, mostly in jest, slightly in fear of getting smacked for the reasons he mentioned. He held up his right arm that his own Pip-Boy was worn on with a nervous grin on his face. "You know, just in case we're going towards something more dangerous than a fucked-up druggie?"

Yasmin laughed. She personally found the term 'psycho-bitch' endeering, since she'd been getting called it, mostly lovingly, for the past few years of her life. She lifted up her pipboy so he could see. "Here. I haven't even heard of anything this far North before."

Scythe felt the dirt hit him in the back and turned his head slightly to see Nevest waving him down. Again, Scythe fell back to his position and casually began walking beside him as to engage in conversation.

Pawnsy shifted out of his Jet induced state as it wore off. He stopped himself before he grabbed another inhaler remembering that he only had 2 inhalers that had to last until the group stopped. He looked up at the buzzards, still circling over him like they had for the last year. Pawnsy hadn't disliked being a ghoul since his march through Hell.

((Fast travelled. Because I’m pretty sure we’re all sick of just walking and talking. Sorry if you had something really important to say, but we’ve been doing this for months.))

After days of the mountains looming closer, they finally reached them. Yasmin was not only ready to kill fiends, but she really, really wanted to. The arguments, the fighting ghouls and Legion and dehydration. Everyone was tired and pissed off. But they were at the mountains. And her pipboy showed that the fiend base was there.

They stopped and she looked through her scope ahead of them, looking for a way to get through or up.

“I see a ridge that we can climb. But….” she lowered the gun, looking pale as well as dirty and tired “I also see at least two fucking giant scorpions. Fuck my life.”

She took out her canteen and had a short drink. “Who here feels like killing some bugs? Because I really don’t think I’m up for it right now.” The bullet wounds she’d gotten days ago had gotten a bit infected, though Pawnsy had been treating them and made her glad she’d brought him along. But if she was going to have to climb, she didn’t want to run as well.

Scythe nodded at Yasmin. He reached into his backpack and pulled out a frag grenade, attaching it to his belt, then tucked his 10mm pistol back into his leg holster. He made sure his assault rifle and pack were both secured as much as possible. "I'll out flank them if one or two others want to go up the ridge and distract them." With that said, Scythe jogged forward until he reached the cliffs and grabbed a hold of the side of the mountain and began to climb the sheer rock wall at an alarmingly fast pace, making his way towards a small outcropping so that he would be able to not only out flank and attack from a position above the scorpions, but perhaps have a peek at the base of these fiend bastards.

"I don't suppose anyone's got some mines?" Jacob said sarcastically as he drew his recharger rifle. He held it in his right hand and took out his binoculars with his left. He looked through them to check out the scorpions. "Well I see the two scorpions, I can't tell if there's more hiding in the rocks though so that could be an issue." He stowed his binoculars and turned back to Yasmin. "You should probably hang back Ms. Yasmin, you'll be more effective at longer ranges anyway." Jacob took out a small rag and poured a little bit of purified water on it and started to clean the focusing lens on his rifle, waiting to hear if anyone had a good suggestion.

(They weren't right at the cliffs yet, Scythe would have had to walk a bit to reach the rockface and the scorpions are just past the entrance of the bit they can get up in and up)

Yasmin leaned on her gun and shook her head. "I told you, you can drop the Ms. Just call me Yasmin. Or Yas. I'm happy with either. And I wouldn't trust that there is only two. Those things always seem to run in big groups. I'll watch and let you know if I see any more from here and scream out if I do, try to cripple them and all. But I'm pretty fatigued, so try not to need saving.” she said half smiling.

Pawnsy scratched his head and turned to Midas "Hmm unless Midas here grows wings we're gonna have to leave him down here, I hope you don't mind the smell while your shooting Yasmin. Also I'm sure your screaming will be warning enough if he's in trouble." Pawnsy turned to the rockface already feeling old thinking about climbing it.

Brad pulled out his cowboy repeater.

"I might be able to cripple their legs from here."

Yasmin shrugged. "It's ok, I don't mind the smell of Midas unless he's wet." she'd found she rather liked having the brahmin arouund. There was a soft spot in her for animals and the majority seemed to like her. (Perk XD)

She lifted up her sniper again and looked through to the massive insects. "Legs, tails, eyes. That's what we go for. But let the guys get close enough to do some damage with any grenades they have before we let the scorps know what's up."

Tom was sweltering, they had been walking for hours now, and as Yasmin mentioned there would be giant radscorpions, it just made his day. He hadn't shot at something in a while and it was a great way to relieve stress.

Tom looked up from the floor at Yasmin, "Maybe I could have a shot at it, after all..", Tom pointed at the Hunting Rifle holstered to his back, "This thing is a beast at long-range".

Before even receiving an answer, Tom strolled off in the general direction of the radscorpions, "I'll find a vantage point, and cripple the legs".

Tom's arms ached as he un-holstered the Hunting Rifle he had shot countless times before. He slowly pulled the iron sights to his eye, and aimed at the nearest radscorpion, Tom started whispering to himself, "Right in between the eyes", then he raised his volume, "Give me the signal when you want me to open fire".

((OOC: Edited my post so he jogged up to the cliff.))

Scythe reached the top of the cliff and made his way into position, overlooking the giant rad scorpions. He signaled to Yasmin, as he pulled the grenade off his belt. Taking a deep breath, Scythe pulls the pin, and tosses the explosive pineapple at the radscoripons. As soon as it left his hand, he immediately unslng the assault rifle from his shoulder and aimed it at the beasts, waiting to see the outcome of the grenade blast.

Tom shot one immediately through the eyes as the blast happened, the scorpion laid to rest on the floor, amazingly, it still managed to pull itself up, and it was scurrying right for Tom, "Shit", he exclaimed as he fumbled with the bolt-action that always got him into trouble, the scorpion was getting closer now.

"Yes...", Tom whispered to himself as the bolt finally slid into place, Tom pulled the iron sights up to his eye, just as the scorpion reared it's tail, BAM, in the eyes, killed the scorpion right out this time, those rounds that Carib gave him certainly where good, but Tom really should've loaded them before firing.

He repositioned himself to take fire on any more radscorpions that were deemed a threat.

(I'll let you guys know when they are all dead. But remember, it'll take more than a few shots to take these things down. They are giant radscorpions. They are armoured and massive)

Yasmin watched the scorpion that ran towards Tom thtough her scope where she and Midas were back roughly a hundred yards. She felt her throat clench up as she watched it get closer then relaxed when he put it down.

She looked back the rock face and the crevasse the scorpions had come out of and she felt sick. There were more coming. Big and small and they were so jammed together she couldn’t count them.

“More!” she bellowed out, aiming at one that started crawling vertically up the side towards Scythe and shooting the stinger of its tail, making it explode into meat and venom.

David realised his weapon wouldn't be able to kill the scorpions from this range, and decided to wait until they got closer. Until then he would act as the rear guard.

His grenade had done some damage, but there were more...many more. And one seemed to be going specifically after Scythe, climbing up the wall of the cliff towards him. Its stinger exploded in a burst of gunfire from one of his companions, but it still had those claws. Scythe aimed his assault rifle down the side of the cliff and opened fire in controlled three-round bursts. Some of the bullets reflected harmlessly off of the armor of the scorpion, a few found their mark but seemed to have no effect.

Before he knew it the scorpion had reached the top, coming up over the top and literally lunged at its prey. Scythe cursed and jumped back, narrowly avoiding a claw to the face. Quickly pulling a throwing knife, Scythe chucked it at the creature, hitting it square in one of its eyes. The scorpion screamed in pain but continued forward.

Scythe ducked to the right, opening fire as he straffed back and forth, but he was running out of room quickly. The scorpion jutted forward a second time and Scythe barely had time to duck. However the scorpion's claw found its way to his backpack, knocking it off the top of the cliff. Scythe watched his supplies tumble down to the area close to where his allies were. But he had no time to worry about that. He had to deal with this oversized pain in the ass.

Nevest backed up from the engagement and away from the radscorpions. With his other hand, he reaches behind him and slides his machete from out of it's sheath. He practiced a few swing of the machete, loosening his joints in anticipation. Like David, he would have to rely on close-quarter combat.

Looking up and seeing Scythe being attacked by a radscorpion, David pulled out his pistol and fired at the mutated arachnid. The shots didn't penetrate the armour, but it distracted the scorpion as it realised there was a new attacker. David hoped scythe would take the oppurtunity to kill it. David turned around and started firing at the radscorpions. Three shots killed a regular radscorpion. David cotinued to fire, and then reloaded.
