New Vegas: Blood Ties

"If you want to give us extra eyes, I'd appreciate that. I'll call you down when we're moving in," she replied "Thanks Tom."

He scanned the windows. But no movement. Not a peep or a sound. Odd. According to Evan, the Fiends didn't guard or patrol. Interesting. He wondered what Fiend warlord was leading this bunch since they were pretty far from the West side of the Strip where the Fiends were basically jumping out of the wood work.

"Remember. Slow slips. Don't want him cramping up." He handed Yasmin two small cubes, "They're electrolyte tabs. They will help."

Carib looked at the building, "Sorry to interrupt. How many more Fiends and how many hostages?" He checked his pouches and noted he had twelve full thirty round mags, four flash bangs, an incendiary and two frags. "Please... any info would be good to have." While others may have wanted too loot the old pre-war building, Carib's intentions were simpler. He wanted to kill the Fiends.

He was going to kill every last mother loving-psycho-jet-popping dirt bag that dwelled. No quarter. No mercy. Just straight killing.

It was back, good lord, the battle shakes. Good.

Evan was fed the tablets and forced them down. When he spoke, his voice had more strength, but it was still weak and hoarse. “I don’t know. The group that took me and one of my men in was about five, but there were more at this base thing where my squad first went to eliminate them. They got the jump on us, killed almost everyone, tortured and killed two while there, dragged me and Higgins from there to here. He was the first person they left out here as a warning for anybody crazy enough,” he paused and looked around at his saviours “No offence – to come out here. I don’t know how many are here, but they’ve been bringing more people in slowly, for food and warnings. And there were new Feinds every time they’d drag somebody else in, but…I don’t know, the factory sounded so quiet inside. Nobody has come in or out for about two weeks, except to pour water on me and give me radroach to eat.” He looked disgusted. Yasmin looked murderous.

“Well, then. Simple. We burn the entire place down. Save us getting shot and kills all the pricks in there.”

“No. There are innocent lives in there, Yas. We need to get them out, then do what you want. But I was trapped with these people, I can’t let them die because of me.”

Yasmin clenched her teeth and growled. “I hate your morality. You get captured and almost killed by these freaks protecting the Mojave, now you still want to risk it to save a handful of half dead meatbags?”

Evan glared back at his sister. The clarity was returning to his eyes as the food, water, blood and tablets worked their magic. “If it was somebody else getting rescued, you’d want them to save me.”

“You’re special!”

“No I’m not. Now help me up.”

Jacob listened as Yasmin conversed with Evan. To his horror Yasmin suggested the same thing Brad had minutes earlier of burning the place down. Then to his relief Evan insisted that Yasmin not go through with it, though the reason being others inside instead of salvage.

“You’re special!” Jacob chuckled at Yasmin's insistence on this fact.

“No I’m not. Now help me up.”

"I gotta agree with Evan, we should get them out." Jacob turned to face Yasmin. "And I really hope you aren't planning on burning the place down with me inside." Jacob said, shifting his weight onto his right leg. He swung his rifle in a gesture towards the front door. He cocked an eyebrow at Yasmin and grinned. "Shall we?" he asked, and began strolling towards the doors.

"So...Evan. Do you want to assist us, or do you need more time to recover? I'm Brad, by the way."

Yasmin put Evan’s arm around her and stood up, sagging slightly under his weight.

“Hello, Brad. Thank you for helping my sister. I'll make it up to you. And I…I don’t think I have any energy. And everything hurts.” He said, grimacing as he tried to stand upright.

Yasmin looked at the guys. “One of you get the pouch that’s on the side of my belt. I’ve got a bunch of chems that should help.” She glanced at Evan. “You got any objections?”

“If it’ll help me, I don’t care. I can get the addiction taken care of by the doctor later.”

“Ok, buffout, jet, hydra and medx should have you moving alright and feeling pretty much nothing.”

Tom lifted the pip-boy to his mouth, "While you guys are in their i'll shoot through the windows, and for the love of god don't take everything I want to salvage", that wasn't to Yasmin, he had spoken up so the hole group could hear.

"I agree with your brother. I can't honestly walk away from this place and allow the Fiends to continue doing this. I have seen too many times what Fiends do when you leave them alone."

Carib made sure a round was chambered on his assault carbine and that the suppressor was fixed on, "You don't have to come Evan. You look like you've been in the mill and back" He tapped his wrist, "I still have a stealthboy left and it has a charge or two in it. I can do enough damage before it wears off."

He looked at Yasmin intently, his face hidden behind the mask, but he was sure she could get a sense of his eyes. Carib cared about Yasmin, perhaps more than he wanted to admit. Seeing her brother battered up, the Ex-Ranger didn't care what banner the man served under, NCR, the Mojave it didn't matter to him. She mattered and he didn't want to see Evan hurt because he knew his death would break something in Yasmin.

"Strong Moral Code. Shame it dosen't run in the family."
David gave a quick glance at Yasmin, and then pulled out his pistol and turned towards the base, waiting for the order to storm the building. He knew she cared alot about Evan, but to consider leaving people for dead? That was wrong, and like Evan said, Yasmin would probably want to run into the building to find Evan if it had been somebody else left out as a warning. Talk about double standards.

When Tom called out over the radio, he replied,"I'll make sure to keep an eye out for anything you might like ,Tom."

Carib looked at David who stood at his side. Despite his ties the Enclave, Carib was glad to have a professional at his side.

They both could probably clear the building without even breaking a sweat. He missed working with pros like that.

"So we doing this or what? After all killing is like any chore. It just has to get done sometimes."

Jacob continued towards the door, once far enough away he began issuing orders to GU-DR in a hushed voice. He had never been a commanding officer in the Enclave, his pursuits more dedicated to science than combat but without many members everyone had to learn to be a soldier.

"Alright, we're doing this by the book. Clear room by room before moving onto the next. We've got info on some hostages so be discriminatory with your fire. I want a status update every five minutes on all primary combat systems. We need to go in hard and fast to keep them off balance."

"Aye sir!" The robot responded. Jacob nodded and shot a glance towards the rest of the group, then leaned against the wall to the right of the door. GU-DR stacked up to his left and waited as well.

Yasmin felt Carib giving her that intense stare of his. But she couldn’t give him any meaningful looks back, she had to help Evan find his veins.

“With all due respect,” Evan said to Carib, wincing slightly as the medx syringe bit through his skin “Minus maybe my sister here, I’ve got more reason than any of you to want to take out these psychos. I’m not going to sit back while somebody else does my job for me.”

David made a snide snip about their family moral code and in unison the two siblings snapped their heads towards him and growled “Shut the fuck up.” before giving a surprised look at the other.

Once all the chems were in Evan, they took affect fast and he was moving freely. Yasmin handed him her assault rifle and a pouch with the ammo, keeping her magnum and knife.

“Now remember, Ev, it’s only the drugs making you feel this good. Physically you are still fucked, so no crazy feats or you might permanently break something, ok? The hydra has helped repair you a bit, but you still need a lot of recovery.”

He slung the pouch around his neck, checked the gun and started walking towards the doors behind everyone else. “Yas, don’t worry. I know about drugs. We never took them in the Brotherhood, but we had to know about what our enemy was on.” He looked at the puncture marks on his arm. “Now I’m filled with as much shit asthey are…”

“That’s different.” Yasmin insisted, then lowered her voice and turned off her pipboy radio so only he could hear. “One more thing…. If this situation turns on us, and it looks like we’re about to get caught, we get the fuck out. No more saving, no more heroics. I’m not risking my life for anybody but you. So if we’re going to get caught, fuck everyone else over, you and me get our asses back to New Vegas, get Nev and fuck off to the mountains. Right?” Evan looked hard at the backs of the men who had come with his sister all the way out here to save him. He didn’t know their motives, he didn’t know if he was even a priority on their lists, but he was free and moving and they’d helped. “Evan, I didn’t come all the way out here to save you just to lose you again. And you don’t want me to come out here just to get caught, right? Más densamente que sangre, mi amor, mi hermano.”

He nodded. “Ok, ok. But only if we have no hope.”

“Agreed.”

They walked up and joined the rest outside the doors and waiting for anyone else who was coming.

Carib nodded, not taking an disrespect from Evan, "Your code is true. A pity the NCR and the Brother are at each others throats. Had both sides had your sense, perhaps the Mojave would have been tamed a long time ago."

he spared Yasmin another glance and knew why she couldn't or wouldn't return his glance. She was rapped up in taking care of her brother. Despite her checkered past as a raider, he knew everyone even the hardest of hard had someone they cared about. Had it been his sister Ilona, he would have moved the Great Divide itself to save her.

Carib took his place along the wall and held up his hand towards Jacob, giving him the signal they were clear to breach and enter. They didn't have a lay out of the place, so the Fiends would have the homefield advantage. Carib would go stealth mode as soon as they hit the door. He would be able to move and kill. Also if the place had an open area, he knew he could pick a lot of them off before the place went to hell.

Evan laughed softly and leant against the wall. "Oh, but if everybody got along, then we'd actually have peace. Pretty sure that's an impossibility. But as long as both factions are trying to keep the desert, I have no problem with the NCR or any of it's men. Now when we get in there, they were keeping me and the other men in a room towards what I'm guessing is the back. They dragged me down a few flights of stairs, so we were on either the top floor, or near it. I couldn't see really well since they'd busted me in the face and my eyes were full of blood."

Yasmin snarled quietly, but didn't say anything.

"So if we get them out first, then I don't care what you do with the place. I wouldn't mind burning it, to get back at what they did to a few of my men, but I would enjoy a little bit more personal revenge as well."

Tom looked through his scope, the team were stacking up against the door, this was going to be fun, Tom knew it, he missed operations like this, he just had to get used to being the one who isn't under command, he turned the radio to Yasmin's frequency, all that came out was crackle. Shit, he thought, he can't keep in com with the team. Then he realised GU-DR had a radio frequency, he just had to find it.

After twiddling several knobs and dials, he finally found the correct frequency, "Right, I couldn't care about chains of command now, i'm firing on whoever the fuck looks threatening, try not to waste ammo on targets i've already chose, you know you won't beat me to it", he chuckled to himself as he relayed his skills as a marksman, "Oh, and Yas, turn your radio back on, our team is as ragtag as they come, you don't want to worsen the situation".

David smiled as the siblings told him to shut the fuck up. He walked towards the door and leant against the wall. He waited for the order to breach.

Yasmin turned her radio back on and lifted it to her lips, holding down the button to speak. "Don't get cocky, mate. You're not the only sniper here. And though snipers are more powerful, we'll have a much closer range. Our bullets will beat yours. But since this probably isn't going to be fought window side, you sure you don't want to come join the fun?"

Tom realised the validity of his situation, Yas, was right, bar his accuracy, a wall was going to stop him from being able to get a shot at the fiends anyway, he lifted the pip-boy to his mouth again, "Alright then, looks like you get the best of me Yas", Tom turned off the pip-boy radio and leapt off the crates, staggering as he landed an nearly buckled his left ankle.

He quickly sprinted over to the team, and threw the pip-boy in Jacob's general direction, and slid off his scope, then slotting it onto his belt, he glanced over to Evan as he stacked in behind Carib, "You in the Mojave chapter?".

Evan looked at Tom in surprise as he ran over, and nodded in response to his question. "Yes, I am. Operated out of the main base." he looked at his sister. "Just how many people did you bring with you to get me?"

She smiled and shrugged. "Enough. There were more, but they dropped off. I wanted to make sure I had enough fire power to get through anything so I could make it to you. Usted es mi corazón, hermano."

David said,"Are we going to breach or what? The amount of talking we do could fill about 40 pages if put in text."
