Nintendo NX Preview Tomorrow!

Wept for Zion
Well I don't know how many of you are Nintendo fans on here, but myself? I'm completely losing my shit right now. We've been waiting months and months for Nintendo's latest console release, the Codename: NX, to finally be revealed and it's here at last. It'll be at 7 AM PT and 10 AM ET. It's going to be released in March 2017 for those who aren't aware.

You can see the official tweet here: https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/788900063833493504?s=09

I'm so excited I could fly into the sky.

Not really a fan of Nintendo or their console, but I am quite interesting about the newest Paper Mario.

the first ever console that were endorsed by CDPR themselves

Ain't really liked Nintendo since they moved on from the Gamecube. After the godawful consoles that were 'slang for peeing' and '+U' I don't see why anyone would be excited about Nintendo's hardware anymore.

Is there any actual concrete information on this thing? What's its gimmicks?

I have been following the news on the new Nintendo console, especially to find out if a new Metroid title will be announced.
Don't know what others think of Richreviewtech and how reliable he is, but he brought up the issue that Nintendo is really late with presenting their new console if they are planning to launch it next year in March.
No one or at least the public has any idea of what this console is going to be about (perhaps developers got an advanced preview), let alone what will be appealing about it.

I really hope that Nintendo cuts back on the gimmicks and tries to make a solid game console first and then try to do something different with the controls.
They really need to get third party support back if they want to complete with the two big players, their glory days of the NES and SNES are long behind them, even their portable consoles no longer sell as good any more now that the mobile gaming trend has hit Japan.

Edit: Hmm making a hybrid home/mobile console might not be such a bad thing, at least it does not rely on weird control gimmicks. It still will depend on the quality of games of course so if Nintendo and third party developers can provide on that front it might be able to catch the attention of people who want something for both at home and when they are traveling or staying over somewhere else.

"In case, there are people still wanting to play Skyrim."

I heard something about Nintendo doing this to stop Japanese devs from jumping to full mobile game development. This could be worse for Nintendo if Sony and Microsoft didn't also decided to abandoned their consoles for half generation step.

Hey CaptJ, I have not heard about that news about Sony and Microsoft before.
Could you perhaps fill me in on it or give me some links to articles about this? I really would like to read more about it.

I hope it's a real console this time instead of some gimmicky overpriced gay bullshit again. And that we get some real NEW games on the system like a real Metroid sequel finally or just something instead of non-stop re-releases like the Wii (buy every old Zelda game af full price again for an emulator tier graphical improvement) U. The new Zelda looks neat but it's not enough on it's own for me to buy a whole console for it.

A modular portable system, but still with horrendous control grips? No thanks, it's going to hurt like hell to play it after a couple of minutes walking out there, thus it'll just sit in your bag most of the fucking time. When the hell are they going to go back to something that wasn't bad in the first place and give us gamecube grips? Those were literally the best and designed for human hands.

It looks pretty good to me. Since they are combining their home console with the portable they will have a much more diverse lineup of games. They might actually have third party support this time around. Waiting for the specs and more info, but I will be picking one up for sure. I never had any huge problems with their controllers, even the nunchuks and gamepad. Frankly I never liked the Gamecube controller or the N64, at least not compared to the other systems, but they weren't as bad as the OG Xbox Duke controller.

I was talking about the the PS4 Pro and Xbox One Scorpio. They aren't entirely new consoles like the Nintendo Switch but I doubt the older hardware is getting a good deal.

There are a few potential problems with this.

Firstly even if the device is based on the new nvidia pascal architecture (plus the nvidia tegra arm cpu?) and some sort of vulkan api implementation (all of these things combined would presumably make it very efficient), this thing still seems too small to house a battery which would give you a considerable amount of life while undocked. Maybe if they have a rather low resolution of something like 720p and low graphical settings they can extend that to 6-7 hours? Even then this devices will try to compete with an already prevalent tablet/smartphone market, which can do gaming (albeit not as graphically intensive, but with the arrival of vulkan in android this might change) + everything else that this console will not be able to do. So you will still have to carry your phone with you AND this thing.

Now if the undocked mode is not the main part of this console, what exactly does it offer that ps4, xbox or a pc cannot do? Ps4 pro, xbox scorpio and a mid range pc will burry this thing in the graphics department.

While i like the two separate controller thingy (as it makes it possible to play while not having hunched over shoulders), the whole modularity of the devices is not very elegant and increases your chances of breaking something.

P.S. They should have also put a bit more footage of that blonde with freckles in the video.

Honestly that looks completly terriable. I mean like liked nitedo up to the gamecube. The GBA and gameboy where good too. But i don't get it ? I think nitendo is confused between handel and a full blown consol ? Why don't they just desgin a consol based on snes or game cube that compete with xbox one? I must admit I would buy into a great consol if it has good games etc. But why now is there no alt to xboxone ps4 ? Serousily it annyouning because it shutting alot of different types of games etc. Kids these day are after ps4 etc when netindeo could still be making good consols ? I really don't get why no games are realiseing for wii u either. Like no call of dutys etc. It seems like they just wanna take 10 steps forward but in actual fact they probably wanna take two back and think what made that consol great. It was because of games where uptodate and could compete. But this like WTF. People are playing moblie game these days no one wants to spend hundreds on psp or etc. PSP and DS vaule as droped so much lately nothing can really compete to handel market compeared to the Ipad. I don't see why they don't just focus on a consol with good games etc. Zelda not really even that much of a big franchise anymore they can't keep doing the same shit or they will end up like sega or someshit. I don't think the consol will sell either I think everyone got wise to how shitty there consols are compeared to the gimmicks. Great you can play handheld two ! But consol verision is still far shitty that xboxone and will coast probably alot more. Where are they going with this
