NMA has threatened my computer!!!

McNurglestein

First time out of the vault
I was fucking around on the forum, and this popped up:

Has my computer been raped? What should I do about this?

EDIT: I scanned my firefox folder with AVG Free, and it didn't find shit.

EDIT2: I have XP, SP3, All updates,

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5

and it popped up about 3 seconds after I returned to index from the news board.

something I noticed. Though only on NMA was that It could happen randomly while typing in the chat window that I was forced to click on a page. I know it sounds strange. But listen. I could not writte or type anymorei n the window to post a reply or correct the text but only move my mouse over it like a "link" and it would open a page for advertisement.

Bethsoft planted a virus here OMG @.@

Ok, panic passed, sorry for that. Now... let's wait and see what the staff tells us about this, right?

This is a good one IMO.

Don't know if it has a live protection though. If it doesn't, you can use Spybot - Search and Destroy for that purpose, along with Avira.

AVG is a shitty antivirus, which I'd never recommend to anyone. It just doesn't serve it's purpose! Aside of bugs, it's unable to delete or quarantine most of the viruses it finds... That is... WHEN it finds.

Also, wrong forum!

Strange phenomenons started happening lately on NMA.

Fallout 3 roundups reviews- Per's sick joke based on his relationships with reviewers around the world

Fallout 3 itself

Now viruses threatning users, which creates a quastion "What have we ever done to them?".

And some guy sayig Avir is better than AVG...which in fact is true, I know that from my own experience.

I didn't know. I only used avg because it was free and claimed to stop viruses coming in with my porn. I feel so deceived and violated.

Just downloaded Avira and started a scan. What the hell is Luke Firewalker?

Anyways; What was it that caused my computer to say, "HEY THIS SUCKS!" Was it some error with the ads? Or a sneaky virus that wants my soul?

Damn that was quick. AVG Scans usually took around 2 hours.

11 viruses found.

What concerns me is the face that of the 11 viruses found, 5 were .exe files of programs that I have written, and they are the "TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen Trojan", whatever that means(as were the 5 files in System Volume Information.) Did I inadvertently program a virus or something? It's odd that a virus would infect these files, seeing how I haven't opened any of them for six months or more.

The last one was a "VGEN/1807.819 virus" from a zip file(AVG actually found this one before, but I deleted the files within the archive that AVG reported were infected. Aparently, avg lied to me. Bastard.)

So, I deleted all files concerned(except for the zip file, which I put on a spare thumb drive to look at with a crap computer because it is a useful file.) Should I be ok? Or is there another step to purifying my computer?

Would any of these have caused that weird error I had?

Use some program to clear your OS's registry and download this tool.

Ah, considering you had 11 viruses in your system, I suppose you're not using a firewall. Am I right? If so, I suggest this one.

Then, perhaps, you'll be secure.

Why do I do that?
I scanned with that tool without clearing the registry(or whatever it is you want me to do), and it told me I have no malicious software.

I was assured by windows that I had a firewall, but I never downloaded one so I assume XP has one included by default. I'll try that one though.

Thanks duder. I am pretty new to the internets.

This will possibly fix some problems in your OS. Some viruses mess with the registry.

And yes, Windows XP has a firewall by default, but, just like AVG, it's a shitty, useless program. Don't forget to deactivate it after installing COMODO.

Do you have any recommended programs for clearing a registry? I have been meaning to do this for a while, as mine has a lot of clutter. I searched online but I'm not sure which site has the most efficient program.
