Obsidian CEO: “I’d love to turn Eternity into more like a Skyrim product”

I'm more of an isometric fan with RPGs, but as long as they're creative with the RPG setting and writing I'll have no problem with whatever gameplay style they want to do it in.

I want a Western RPG damn it!

Do developers know that there are settings other than fantasy?

Apparently not, though it's good to hear Urquhart's wanting to do sci fi.

Reading this, you have to feel for the guy. We might bitch about how we want more games like the original Fallout's, but considering all the financial problems Obsidian's had as an independent company, it makes sense that Urquhart would want to go for something that gets more sales.

Well they kind ofdug their own grave when they swelled into a studio too big to support themselves on niche titles. Didn't they?

I feel like if EA eats them up EA might explode and Westwood can finally be free. (yes I know im nutty)

Maybe they just want it to be 3D, so ultra casuals don't puke at the Isometric camera angle.
The isometric angle in the OG Fallout's was a bit problematic at times. Made it hard to click on What you wanted to especially next to walls or inside buildings. But that rarely happened. And hasn't there been mainstream games with isometric angles. Iirc the god of war games had isometric angles where the camera would follow kratos around the level.

I'm pretty sure some of those were fixed set pieces while still allowing the camera to move in a limited manner.
