Olympus 2207 English Demo released

So far, so good!

I ran into the same issue as Null but reloading a previous save before talking to mom save the day.

A few feedback (I haven't completed the demo yet) :
- I had some difficulty finding how to leave the living quarters for the farm (maybe there should be a visible exit grid?)
- the quest "find and return a wrench for dad" isn't marked as done in your adventures book even if it's done
- there's an error in the dialog file when talking to Cattie in the farm for the first time

I also noticed that there were a lot of critters moving, doing stuff. I don't remember seeing that much critters moving in Fallout. Did you override an engine limitation?
And reading the credits, I saw you announced the final release for
december 20, 2012. Just before the end of the world. Can't wait ;)

This approach will break the game curve, do not do this. Even if the guard ask you for buzz, just agree and "use" the stairs behind him. Guys, just "use" the stairs
Strange, I tried to use the stairs, but the guard just ask me if I got the brew, and my only option is answering "not yet" and got some punches in my face. :(
Maybe I accidentally click him instead of the stairs, will double check it while I get home.

I can't even find the damned parking lot, is it in the first map or in another (could get out of the first yet, and everyplace in it looks the same, no parking lot in there I think)

The parking lot can be accessed via an exit zone located at the eastern wall (close to the northern wall - behind the elevator), behind the guard.

There are numerous ways to get the bottle. Let me know if you want me to PM you a hint how to get the bottle the easiest way :)

Yes, it looks like you've accidentally clicked him instead of the exit zone. Just don't bother him unless you've got the filled bottle. :)

This doesn't work on Win XP for me. That's expected or not?
In my case D3DX9_43.dll and D3DX9_42.dll needed to be downloaded from some dll site. After that it works fine with exception of a crash when I try to loot middle bookcase on game starting level (there's an L-shaped set of 3 bookcases, the shorter arm and the distant part of long arm work fine, the middle crashes game with an error referring to invalid pointer exception). I tried to acess the bookcase twice with same result.

EDIT:
I had to load older save, listen to fairytales once again. Now I can save (before - I just noticed - it crashed on saving too - and the "crashy" saves were unloadable) - saves work fine. But this time I did not discuss with father - just went to "work". This time the middle bookcase works fine.

Nice graphics, very impressive work. IMHO the music gets tiring and repetitive after a while.

I have managed to get the medication and find the wrench, nothing more to do, noone talks at level 1, no idea how to get to any other level. CH5 IN9 if that matters. Any suggestion (PM or here). Whaat is meant by DEMO? Is that a complete game or just a few maps as teaser?

WHAT!? I had to sell the wrench to get the medicine, then again i think i did it wrong.

Thanks for detailed description, I'll check this bug.
You know, sometimes I think that the old good Fallout's engine is SOOO modified, that it's pretty impossible to determine what is going wrong...

You're welcome.

I am facing another "crashy" container - this time footlocker: http://zcnet.22web.org/fo2/crashCase.JPG (this works only via ^C^V on address bar - byethost blocks image referencing ...)
The save:
http://zcnet.22web.org/fo2/SLOT06.zip (same issue with link here as with image - just copy and paste in address bar)
NOTE: If it (game crashing) is an issue with my configuration (DirectX?) - the save should work fine for you.

Just finished the demo, the graphic design is impressive, and I like the story arc of the beginning stage. The escape reminds me of FO3, but the reason in OL2207 is million times better than FO3, and the cutscene is simply awesome!

But somehow I think some stuff blend too well with the scene, makes searching a bit hard, especially in the parking lots. :P BTW, after finishing the guard's quest, if I examine him, the whole "beating" scene will replay again, even if I'm far away from him.

I just checked your save in-game - I have the same problem with the footlocker, and your save has killed my own save done at first phase just before going to bad. In fact, all containers are filled randomely at the start of the map by some stuff of list of 50 items. I've verified all items proto - all is Ok, so, somehow your your map autosave was broken (perhaps because of too much items in one map). Sorry, but it is a random bug, I can not fix it... You have to delete all saves done at this map at 17 ages and start from child's saves.

No-o! You're kidding me! At the version 1.00 I have many broblems with this guard, so, for a testing I've added this possibility to angry him... I'm so ashamed... Going to fix it right now.

Thanks for yours words. I will try to repeat this bug, but I doubt if I can do this... Perhaps you've done smth wrong during the game (kill guards or some quests personnages). Sorry for this stupid suggestion, but try to play another manner.

I haven't killed anyone and don't think I did anything unusual. I'm going to reinstall and start over and see if that fixes it. Will let you know if I still have a problem.

Really nice looking demo. Big congrats to the makers!

Took me a long time to actully find the stairs to other areas. I could see the 2 exits on the upper & lower east side but took a long while to realize there were actually stairs hidden in the darkness.
The colour of the AP lights could be made slightly more noticable. I notice if you "Study" someone it gives you your % chance of stealing something, I like that little addition.

- I only encountered a "game freeze" bug when I fought the guard that wants the drink.

- At first I just kept getting the "D3DX9_42.dll" message. Had to install the newest driectx for the game to run.

Can't for the life of me figure out how to cure the cows, so I jumped a few guards and took their guns so I could escape outside :P

Looks like an interesting story you have in Olympus, good luck with it! :)

EDIT: Cured the cows with *a little help* and finished. Very nice cut scene indeed. I turned the brightness up a bit in the options made everything look much nicer, I must say. The interface is cool, I'm sure we all know where the buttons are already

Thanks again

I only played for a bit but I can alredy tell that is is going to be orgasmic.

I loved the atmosphere the most, all those random people running around in some kind of cramped underground community really catches that "probably nothing but sand from miles away of this safe house".

I also love the new NPCs, they look like FoT NPCs without all the unnecessary colors and boyish hair.

I had a bit of a problem with the interface though, everything is too grey, making it a bit hard to read and/or click some stuff.

Well, there is many complaints about the grey-ish interface, but... Damn, we know it sucks! But fallout pallet is adapted to classic follut colors (yellowish/brownish), so all other color sets just sucks (remember blu color interface of E.C. Paris?). We were forced to use a color different to Fallout's one just to show, that this game is not just a Fallout extension. I promess, in "Olympus 2" with the new engine all colors issues will be solved.

All it needs is a stronger contrast between shades, the darker colours need to be slightly darker - but the design itself is very well done. Congratulation gentlemen.

Oh no, no no...

I love the new interface, just make the text and clickable stuff a bit darker and it should remain awesome and exclusive from Fallout.

Juicy news! I'll be checking out the English demo as soon as I have some free time. Congratulations to the Olympus team and to Egalor for the translation work!

I finished the demo and loved it.
The art direction is excellent, the settings promising and the
crafting system is a great addition gameplay-wise.

Congrats guys!
