OWB and the BoS

So? Anders Behring Breivik was a product of the Norwegian way of life, that doesn't make Norway a violent country.
Not the same thing and in relatively poor taste, Norway doesn't promote a xenophobic regime and everyone doesn't live in bunkers devoid of conflicting opinions; nobody but the Brotherhood and what it teaches and enforces it's children are responsible for those xenophobic fanatical paladins.

Sorry, wasn't trying to say anything in poor taste. It was just the first example to come to mind. My point still stands though, even if the BoS is isolationist. Although I want to make it clear that I don't support the way that they act now. I make an exception for the Mojave BoS though, because if they aren't harsh toward outsiders it could lead to their destruction, since they're so weakened by their conflict with the NCR.

I highly doubt that Elder McNamara (or most members of the Mojave BoS) would support what those Paladins did to the Followers.

good to see we're getting such a good discussion out of this topic :D , that said the norway reference was in bad taste.....

*facepalm*

No it wasn't. It was apt as any example to use. Stop being such whiny moralists and treat an episode in space and time as an episode in space and time. What is this? A goddamned support group?

Except is wasn't, maybe you should have actually read the arguement in question before being being the just hero standing up for freedom or speech or whatever; even as an example it was incorrect.

Doesn't matter whether or not it was wrong, calling it 'poor taste' because it was recent actually insinuates that any of you dullards have some sort of emotional stock into a cookie-cutter terrorist attack. I can imagine you gasping in disbelief that RogerMaxson37 *dare* mutter about some politically motivated killings over your morning tea and crumpets with the "View" on full volume in the background. When did men become such whiny moralists?

Whatever pal, keep on fighting the power, those damn PC Liberals right; there are a lot of people on here from Eastern Europe, when did men lose the idea of showing some respect.

Who cares if they are norwegian? Would it be different if they were american? It's about showing respect to fellow people, not fellow countrymen.
Anyway, that being said, personally, I don't mind that Norway reference other than that it was simply wrong.

You see the conundrum being born when saying that *you* are not bothered by the Norway reference, but because some may be, that one infinitesimally unimportant NMA-goer, any further references or comparisons are to be silenced, out of a misunderstood and unqualified 'respect' for the dead. Methinks such unwarranted, unabashed 'respect' stifles discussion.

Strike for Horus for being a total fucking dick. Learn to be a little less of an asshole or get out. And that applies across all your recent posts.

So guys about the brotherhood, um they're pretty extremist in NV. I think it was only natural that the developers would make them extremist though.

It makes sense. Following a scripture(the codex in this example), means that it can be interpreted differently, leading to extremist views. When the heir to the high elder position is one of these, it seems only natural that the rest of the organisation would follow suit.

I don't think that OWB really is a good example one way or another to illustrate the BOS philosophy as right or not.

Big Mountain is a self contained area, with the outside world only venturing in in tiny amounts... 4 people of note.
And all that is there, was there before the war. (Or so I'm lead to believe.)
The Brotherhood is there to collect prewar military technology by any means necessary... They don't think it's a good idea for kids to pick up toys they don't understand and start killing each other with them.

It should be noted AGAIN, that the brotherhood has little to no interest in non military technology.
