Okay, so I should move patch000.dat to somewhere safe, then reinstall patch 1.05 and the update and everything should work properly?

Thanks.

Okay I got it working I moved that patch000.dat file, added the 1.05 and the update then changed all the .PRO files to read only.

Is this correct, I know it's working but I just don't want it to crash after I've beaten half the game.

Could someone please tell whether i should install pathces when i receive 1 and 2? not ones that change the game just fix bugs? can some1 please link me too any if i should ((i have no idea how to install patches )

If you want to know whether to install a fan-made patch (like the 1.05 patch) and how to do so, you should read this thread, but if you want to limit yourself to the official Interplay's patches, you should go to the Gameplay and Tech forum.

I hope this clears it up.

Well i wont receive the games for another week but i think i'll stick with original game with just bug fixing pacthes fo now. thanks all the same

Before installing any patches, start the games and look at the version number on the main screen. Odds are you don't need to install any patches.

Install the patch 1.01 for Fallout and 1.02 for Fallout 2

You're looking for version 1.1 on Fallout (not 1.01) and version 1.02 on Fallout 2. Your new games will probably already be at that patch level. Don't install patches if they already are.

And if they're not, they're probably enclosed on the game cd or on a separate patch cd, so you won't have to download them.

In case everybody hadn't noticed, there's a new thread for patch stuff, so I'm unsticking this one now. I won't scream at anyone for posting here, but... new thread, OK?

Well, a simple idea just popped into my head.
The description of the laser pistol says:

A Wattz 1000 Laser Pistol. Civilian model, so the wattage is lower than military or police versions.

Perhaps someone (you, Celestial?) could alter the image of the pistol a bit and add another weapon to the Fallout's armoury - Military Laser Pistol.
The description of the laser pistol would finaly make sense (come on, there should be at least one military version of the pistol in California).

Yeah, a military grade laser would be a cool addition; I thought about the same thing a few years back when I was working on a mod on my own but I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought about it.

You could always convert the image from Tactics to use for this purpose.

Not to mention how incredibly weak the laser pistol is against anyone with a decent amount of armor. It would be nice to have a more powerful laser pistol.
