Penny Arcade comics end, a contest begins

The Penny Arcade Fallout 3 comics end I have seen little but negative feedback on the whole affair. The Penny Arcade guys basically phoned it in, but if you liked it, tell Matt Grandstaff which one you liked best for a chance at free tchotchkas.
While you might be sad to see the comic go away, I’ll try to turn that frown upside down. At my desk, I’ve got some leftover goodies from PAX to giveaway. From amongst the schwag, five lucky winners will win a Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide. Additionally, three very lucky winners will win Survival Guide, a signed Fallout 3 poster, and one of the coveted Fallout 3 puppets.

Here’s the basic rules:

* Send an email to bethblog@bethsoft.com. In it, let us know which of the 12 comics was your favorite.
* All e-mails must be received by midnight (U.S. EST), Sunday, October 12th. Winners will be randomly selected and contacted shortly there after. Any foul play detected will result in automatic disqualification.
* All participants must be 18 or older to enter and verification may be required before the winner is announced.
Thanks Ausir.

At least the abomination is over.

They should have hired alec

they did.

but he nagged alot about how Bethesda sucks n stuff like that so they decided to kick him out.

They were OK to me. I liked 3, 5 & 9. Thanks Ausir and Brother None for posting this too.

I'd have to agree that only about 3-4 of them were even remotely funny, and the last one seems to me to kinda support the new version of FO where the bloddy mess perk is turned on by default and that's the way the game is supposed to be...dunno, but I really didn't get he humor of the last one at all.

did they end it prematurely because of the negative response? the ending really seems sudden, like they had plans for more stuff but then said "ah, fuck it".

it really feels like the comic was just a random thing the Penny Arcade guys did because Bethesda asked them. as if they really didn't care if it was good or not. and Bethesda hyped the crap out of it.

Nah, it was supposed to last "a couple of months", and for that you only need slightly over a dozen comics. It was just a short series, always intended to be.

I should note I haven't really followed the response to this bit of Bethesda PR elsewhere, but unlike - say - the Prepare for the Future site (well received), I don't think this got that much response anywhere. Might just be me, tho'.

I just realized that Beth is hyping up the greatness of the commic by 'paying' people with swag. Because anyone that enters the contest would be stupid to say anything negative if they wanted to win...

I thought the style and stuff was good, but it was the whole puppet thing that didn't work for me. I mean, it was funny when the guy was pretending they were real and losing it, but as it dragged on, it seemed like the puppet sort of hurt what otherwise would have been funny. Just like 9, where he's talking to the ghoul. I thought that was pretty good cause the puppet didn't really come into play. Weird puppet thing...

the Puppet part was kinda cool, but after he left vault the Puppet kinda lost its color in comics.

Yeah, exactly. That's where they should have left it.

but something is telling me it would be funnier if the guy stayed in vault.

and the whole puppets kinda get a life and started to talk to him.
