First time out of the vault

I've got about 700 hours (give or take) spent in the game right now, I think it's worth playing. Disregard youtube because most of videos talking about how terrible the game are either incredibly out of date (and those issues have long since been fixed/addressed) or talking about the lack of end game content (by the time you run out of end game content you'll have a couple hundred hours invested).

You can join and play the game now which is stable and has a lot of stuff to do. This is basically the version of the game they should have released over a year ago. You can wait a while longer for the "Wastelanders" release which will add NPCs to the game but I have no idea how buggy an experience that might be based on previous experience. I'd recommend jumping in now personally. Most people end up making a second character at some point anyway and you might want to play for that Wastelanders.

the game has provided me plenty of fun since i began to pick up the game again recently. if you want my advice, don't listen to what other people say about a game. you're your own person, and you can make your own decisions! some people hate the game, some people (like me) really enjoy the game. if you're skeptical about purchasing the game, i'd suggest waiting for a free weekend or something to try it out. i'm sure something like that will show up when the Wastelanders DLC releases!

tl;dr do what you want. give it a shot or don't! i personally suggest trying it out though!

If you want to support a morally bankrupted company that singlehandedly takes large craps on the series and fans then yeah go ahead. Bethesda will never pull off what Hello Games pulled off.

Wastelanders has improved the gameplay immensely. Disregard the nay sayers and play its fun, and the low stat start is interesting and welcome. Their is some stutter and funny lag shit that goes on but big deal. Its fun. It's not like I'm asking you to buy 1st or something. It has value for money, Wastelanders was FREE and really improved on the bad side of grinding. Before then you were stuck in the starter areas (The forest) and their isn't much you can explore, now with wastelanders, you have a fun way to level up quickly and some of the missions are brilliant. (I'm mainly taking about a particular rescue and escape mission) The more I learn on how to play better, build better and craft better all adds to the fun!

Oh goodie, another Bethdrone. @TorontoReign chased the last one away, maybe you might last longer. Also, brilliant and Bethesda do not belong in the same sentence.

You are trying too hard, buddy. Don't make it too obvious.

Because it's unironically good and very atmospheric game which I surprisingly enjoyed more than any of the previous games save for NW. It hands down has best level design in the series, huge map which consists of 6 different biomes each having its own story of how things unraveled there after the Great War. The main difference from previous games is that rather than being a participant you are an explorer who pieces the events together from the titbits of information scattered around locations.
If you aren't part of the autistic "Bethesda bad" circlejerk(which I guess means not an average member of this forum), there is no reason not to give it a try.

As someone who did "give it a try". Nah it's still a really shitty game. You are correct that Appalachia is one of the best worldmaps in the series but it is devoid of worthwhile content and everything in the game particularly related to it's gameplay loop is garbo.

Oh boy, we have one of these.

It's hilarious that they still come here fully aware of the, well, wrong mentality the people outside of here seem to think this forum has. What they attempt to accomplish coming here is beyond me.

But thanks, you gave me a good laugh.

You wouldn't believe the bogeyman that's been made out of this place on places like /v/ and Reddit.

Definitely do not buy it, not on sale, not for an update, the only time I would maybe consider playing it, is if it's free, and that's a huge maybe.

The only positive I can conjure up for this game is the incredible soundtrack by Inon Zur (which you can stream on apple music and spotify lmao) and the pretty awesome world, with it being the most colorful world to date with some pretty cool and interesting locales.

However, the cons are innumerable, and seriously make me issue a warning to anyone still interested in picking up this game. I would list them, but I think the NMA Fallout 76 Review, or the countless videos on the subject on it do an infinitely better job than I could.

Wastelanders is barely an improvement, adding minor skill checks and some NPCs, but it does VERY LITTLE to fix this trainwreck.

It's an absolute fucking mess of a game.

However, I overall don't see it to be as damaging as something like Fallout 4, because it was marketed as a spinoff, and got major kickback from normie fallout fans and hardcore fans alike. However, Fallout 4 was the highest grossing Fallout game and got pretty high user and critical reviews across the board.

So, in short, just don't buy it, if it's for free, or like, idk, in a humble bundle or going for sub $5, then maybe try it out, but you'll likely find it's a waste of your time.

Please do tell! I hope they made me out to be the Queen Cunt of this place! :V

It's nothing so specific. In effect the idea is that we are a completely irrational hate-machine that hate the Bethesda games and even New Vegas on principle of existing, and we organize raids onto other websites to propagate our ideas. So if there's a grumpy Bethesda hater on Reddit or /v/, yup it's NMA at it again!

For good measure there's also some moral panic thrown in, where they claim that NMA has actively organized the harassment, threatening, leaking of personal information of "countless" Bethesda employees because of our endless desire for hatred.

It's a rather threatening aura created for a website that typically has less than two dozen active users.

If anything you would think that they would make a boogeyman out of The Codex. The Codex is much more harsher and less tolerant of Bethesda then the folks here on NMA.

Codex gets lip-service on non-Fallout RPG arguments.

When it comes to post-nuclear roleplaying we've got the hate-monopoly, baby.

NMA is leagues better than the codex, on both matters of non-Fallout, and Fallout matters, mostly because RPGCodex is extremely fuckin racist lmao
