Peter Molyneux is an idiot

upon recently thinking of peter and richard...

it seems like genious really only shines the more restrictions you put on them.

they have to generate real solutions.

in this day of supercomputers on the desks, the limits have fallen by the wayside.

fable is a good game. not noteworthy in any sense of the word, but a fun game.

being fun and good does not a great game make.

peter and richard were great but have fallen into bouts of mediocrity.

I really liked Powermonger (1990). And Populous II (1991). And Syndicate (1993).
Heh :) ...
I liked them too :) . They were some of the first PC games that I played :) .

Hell yes, syndicate is still an awesome game,, its got a really cool tactical system, cyberpunk ftw!

And peter is a turd, black and white 1 was buggy as hell and boring. Black and white 2 i never played, fable was 5 hours long and will never be a rpg.

Pablo, I said it wasn't. What is your point?

Or are you having fun jumping on the "Fuck Molyneux Bandwagon"?

(If there is a literal wagon named as such, I'll jump on it.)

I don't get why this guy is so famous in the industry. He's made a couple of good games but nothing mindblowing as far as I know.

the industry thinks it needs pseudo-intelectual hipster film-director type figures - steve-job-o-s that can sell stuff just because their name is on the tin ...

actually i'd love it if the gameing world had real worthy film-director types with actual vision that would lead the way ... instead it just has faux overhypers

did i mention i loved populous :)

Almost every Bullfrog game was mindblowing in my opinion.

He's not an idiot, he only wants to earn money.

I liked a lot Syndicate, one of the best games I everplayed, and Populous, Dungeon Keeper (superb game) or Theme Hospital. But now, Moulineaux sucks.

The Movies is not bad, anyway.

peter is an idea guy, but a lot of the time its failed execution.
I share this opinion. What Peter wanted to do with Fable was great, it's just the fact that the end result was nothing like what it was supposed to be. Still a fun game though (not mind-blowingly awesome or anything).

He's not an idiot, he just has big ideas that sound great, but generally turn out to be poorly implemented into an actual game (or just not implemented at all).

I also enjoyed Black and White, although I could never get too far before I stopped. Haven't touched the second one.

From what I've seen of Fable 2, I'm hopeful (though not expecting it to be as grand as Peter is promising, of course). I'm rather wary of the whole one-button for melee, one-button for magic control scheme. I'm all for intuitive controls, but I think this'll probably be swaying more towards the too-simple, too-easy gameplay side.

In response to The stag,

Actually I wasn't even referring to what you said, I was just stating the common misconception of calling fable a rpg, and i was bringing up the dislikes that i have for some of peter's work.

I didn't know there was a hating peter bandwagon, but i think someone who goes on promises for games(i.e claiming about features that are non existent in the full product etc.) and not owing up to at least half of what he said is a turd. I owned black and white 1, beat 2 and own fable, and I keep getting suckered into buying these products that have features that don't just don't exist in the release. My fault for being ignorant but still, you'd figure with his lengthy development cycle with his games he'd at least owe up to half of what he says will be in the game.

i lost all respect for him with black & white, i bought it at release. At release the game had a bug on level 5 (?), which would kill your creature, even after you did the mission to cure it.

It was before i had teh internetz, so basically i couldn't complete it as i couldn't get (and couldn't be arsed anyway) to get the patch.

Annoying bugs i can take, but game breaking bugs are inexcusable.

Im looking forward to fable 2 because it looks fun. They're gonna make a fun game. But its true that this guy is a real tool. Ive loved fable 1 for a long time But still it doesn't compare to the fallout games. And Fable was far too short.

:( Its a shame the lead guy is a complete idiot

Ill drive the son-of-a-bitch, all the way to Oregon, and risk dying of dysentery.

But anyways, I like what he's doing with the dog NPC, But for some reason, I think the idea might end up blowing chunks after I play it.

And, I am required by divine law to hate anyone coined "The Sting of Video Games".

i have never heard of peter being called the sting of video games... before tabula rasa i would say that was richard :)

from what i think peter needs to do, he needs to create big ideas for games that sound cool, then hand it over to someone else to actually code and develop. if they have questions, then ask him, otherwise get the ideas from him and do everything else away from him because there are just some large problems when he is involved the whole process imo.
