Political parties?(how we are seperating our country)

OK, this request that you folks mind your manners is getting tiresome.

We may disagree with PS, we may dislike PS and his opinions, and we may think that he is informed or naive. Regardless, we will mind our manners and show each poster here the respect they deserve. That includes PS.

Personally, I don't much care for either party. they are both fucked up. I would like to see a third or fourth party emerge. But I also think the parties generally come together on a moderate ticket.

the recent political campaigning for 04 has got me thinking and observing the different political parties. I think its amazing how far separated the right and left have gotten. it also amazes me that we don't listen to the dire warnings of our past leaders.
gorge Washington clearly understood what would happen if we became widely separated, and warned of the out come.

arguments often lasting for years become sore spots, and though sores my just be sore right now, years later if unresolved they become infections. who can tell what our future holds or our childrens futures, but i know one thing for sure, if we don't learn to find reasonable solutions faster we will fail as a nation.

I'd argue now that they are almost identical... the only real diffence between right and left is that they say their is a difference... one side coming up with something, and the other side coming up with the exact opposite just to spite the other side (Typically the democratic politicians doing the latter)

You live in America? Come talk to us when you people finally experience the devastating effects a war can have if it is fought on your territory. And believe you me, Belgium has had plenty of those. It's nickname is 'Battlefield of Europe', FFS...

Haven't you ever heard of the War on Drugs, or the War against Terrorism? Horrible devasation from the two have already been around for a while.

but you guys never had a real war on your own land. (exception of the revolution)

we (belgium and holland) were torned over by the nazi's in 40-45. such a war can rip your whole country apart... it will take years to recover such a great country back to how it was...

and for that part of the war of terrorism: where is the front? can you tell me where it is?

Hey, nice job with your knowledge of world history!

Here are some of the wars fought on US soil.
US Civil War
French and Indian War
The Indian Wars
War of 1812
Mexican-American War
Spanish-American War

Not to mention all of the conflicts that took place in US territories like the Phillipines.

Also, approximately 700,000 soldiers died during the civil war. A scorched earth policy was also adopted in the south, devastating it. Are you trying to tell me that such a war didn't tear apart our country?

What, and do you REALLY think Flanders hasn't won a single war in its entire history? I was just using the same stupid generalisation you did.

Huh? Both of those wars are already mentioned.

And why does that make it "fair"? WHAT exactly? I'm not sure what message you're trying to convey here.

Ah Jebus, who are we kidding anyway? The Flemish have gotten their arses kicked so often throughout history, that we wouldn't even feel it if it were to happen again.

We did kick the arses of the French in 1302, though, didn't we? And all we needed to defeat their cavalry were some peasants and a big pile of mud. Hehe. But you can hardly call that a war, now can you?

Oh, and wasn't it a Flemish soldier (or, again, a peasant?) who opened the sluices of the Yser in World War I so that the Germans had to retreat?

Anyway, we got heroes here in the Flanders. No one knows them, that's all.

hahahaha.. i wanted to write C-u-z but i got some sort of weird msg hahaha.. it's quite nice how you guys did it ! :D

:D why are you not on msn? cause u r not in gent?

Are you talking to me?

If so: I'm from Gent, alright. Don't even know what you mean with msn (yes, I'm a n00b when it comes to computers and stuff - I'm still living in the eighties, I'm afraid...)

And believe you me, Belgium has had plenty of those. It's nickname is 'Battlefield of Europe', FFS...

So you've had a bunch of wars fought on your land. That doesn't say much. It's like 'Hey, whos gonna take over Belgium this week?'.

I think the point he is trying to make is that the belgian people have felt, to a much greater extent, the effects of war than the people of US.
